1)How soon after surgery did you start exercising?

2)What type was it?

3) For how long?

4) What is your routine now?

I went back to the gym a week and a bit after surgery, but I have only stuck to cardio until I meet with the surgeon. Just cause the outsides look okay does not mean the insides are, remember that, you can really harm yourself if you push too hard.

I had roux-en-y

I stick to 30 mins cardio. I do not have a car or ttc pass so I was everywhere. Make sure not to overdo it. I have had a strict gym routine for about 2 yrs now so my body is use to it.

Thanks for sharing. I have a treadmill at home I was thinking about doing that for 3-15 mins sessions a day a week after surgery. Start with the first 15 min session then go on to the next 15mins a couple hours later and so on. I dont want to over do it all at one time.

i just bought a used bowflex off kijiji and started using it this past week, so a month after. also brought my treadmill out of storage and trying to do 15mins walking a day plus some light weight excersice on bowflex, certainly not pushing it as my stomach still hurts.

but treadmill is a good way. you should walk every day after your surgery so you dont get blood clots.

Immediately.

Got up and started walking the floor 4-5 times the day of surgery.  Day 2 I went outside with my IV and walked around the building 2 different times.  At home, I walked around the block 3 times a day and then further for the same number of times.  At 2 weeks I started to jog lightly.  At 3 weeks I took my bike out.

I tend to to too much too soon and hurt myself lifting a sandbox at 4 weeks out which put me on my back for a week (longer than surgery recovery) as I pulled a muscle in my abdomen.  I went spinning weekly at 6 weeks.  I added my cycle commute to work at 8 weeks.  I started a couch 2 5K at 10 weeks and personal training at 12 weeks.

I'm 16 weeks out and run/walk 3 times a week, pilates once a week, cycle commute 5 days/wk, TRX once a week, spinning once a week and personal training once a week.

Start slow and listen to your body.  Better to go slow than hurt yourself and have a longer setback.

Amazing!!! That's mind blowing.

I would have hard time doing some of this before surgery. Haha.

I will planning on getting up and walking ASAP.

Im

gonna walk the hallway of my apartment building for the first week to make sure I have my balance ( not always the most balanced) then second week be on treadmill. Min of 45 mins a day

that is awesome! but, not all of us are starting at under 300lbs. there is no way i could do all that today. still over 350lbs, that would kill me. i agree with your message but everyone has to go their own speed and do what they can. :)
