What happens during your preadmission appointment?

My surgery is a month away and my pre-admission appointment is next week. They advised it is 4 hours long and to bring a snack. What happens during the appointment?

I am with Humber and this is how it went for me...

1. Arrive at Pre-Surgical Area and Register, they said to be 15 minutes early as the time they give you is actually the time that you should see the nurse.

2. See the Nurse and do an ECG, blood pressure take weight and height...go through your medical history

3. Give Blood

4. See the Anesthesiologist who talks about your medical history as well as what they will need to give you in terms of meds.

This all took me 3.5 hours, the length of time was mostly due to waiting in between.

All the best to you!

What hospital are you at? I'm at Toronto Western and my surgeon appointment is on Friday. A new appointment popped up on my chart. It says Pre-OP for February 4,2019. I'm guessing suregery will be approved Friday! Keeping my fingers crossed! Good luck and keep us up to date!

Yes, you'll get your surgery date. I am at TWH also. My pre-op appointment is 3 weeks before my surgery, so I'm assuming your surgery date will be late February/ early March.
