I still don't have one... but with all the crazy stuff going on with my blood pressure I am making up a sheet for in my purse incase something happens and I do pass out at work...

Now with that said... If i do pass out and they call 911... what can/can't do if the EMT show up because of the gastric bypass... I don't remember... because I do want to get an Medical alert bracelet later... just haven't had the extra money to do so...

Thanks...

OMG Shannon... I was seriously just going to post the same question. I have  the order form next to me for the bracelet and was going to ask what needs to go on there.

where did you get the order form... and how much is it to get it...

The ones I have seen it was going to cost me like 200 bucks for 2- need at least 2 because of all the meds I'm allergic too lol... but I would need a 3rd because of the gastric bypass and c-sections incase of 911 stomach surgeries and other things...

I picked up an order form at my surgeon's office but I'm not sure of the pricing. It might depend on how much is on them.  I just want to make sure everything is there tht needs to be. I meant to ask the surgeon when I was there, but forgot.

RNY - no blind NG tube - I think that is what it is supposed to say - I haven't gotten one yet either because of finances but I am ready to now - hopefully someone else can confirm.

I believe the site that Shauna told me about is Laurenshope.com they are less expensive there - I was considering just getting the dog tags - they seem to be the least expensive right now. Especially if I am going to be getting pregnant and things might swell

EMTs can't do NG tubes so it would be for the hospital staff more than the EMTs.

Also...you probably shouldn't get concentrated sugars - HOWEVER - if your blood sugar is low on arrival to the hospital it is ok to get concentrated sugars through the IV to help bring it up - and it won't be for so long it would be detrminental.

Give one to Jeremy, too, to keep in his wallet or something that way if they don't find it in your purse or whatever when he gets there he has a copy of everything

As a former volunteer just some advise. Don`t get too fancy. If it looks too much like jewelery it may get missed. Also carry a card in your wallet or purse.
For guys I like a simple dog tag with the med-alert on one side in red and then on the other mine says:

Gastric bypass RNY
No NG tube
No NSAIDS

Some add their surgeons Phone number but if you get too wordy they get hard to read when in a rush.
I`ve seen them from 8.95 to 200.00 but the 8.95 one does the same thing.

I picked up a bracelet from CVS Pharmacy when I first had my surgery. It wasn't expensive and I felt it was ok for my needs. The one I got was like a watch band and opened up so you could put a paper inside with the info.

I just got this crazy idea so hang in there.  Since not to be funny this is not considered a piece of jewelry I am wondering if any insurance companies will pay for this.  Can't hurt to ask is my theory and I am going to look into this. Because this can be a life saving thing and money saving thing for them too.
