Does anyone have a recommendation with regard to an endocrinologist that is well versed with PCOS? I was told I fit the profile of PCOS but have not been confirmed. My OB/GYN is wishy washy about the whole thing and I'm not sure this is her strong suit (PCOS). Thanks for any suggestions in advance!

If you're willing to come as far as Baltimore, my Reproductive Endocrinologist is very well-versed in PCOS. She took lots of time to talk with me about how PCOS was manifesting in me, and explored different methods of dealing with it. After a string of gynecologists whose only solution was to mask my symptoms with the pill, Dr. Smith was a breath of fresh air! Dr. Rosella Smith can be reached at: Fertility Center of Maryland 110 West Road Suite 102 Towson, Maryland, 21204 Tel. 410-296-6400 Tel. 800-405-4IVF Fax. 410-296-6405 The website is www(dot)fertilitycentermd(dot)com Good Luck! Hi Tiffany, Thank you for the referral! I'll give this practice a call and see if they will treat only PCOS or if it has to be in conjunction with infertility. While I had a tough time with infertility, I have been blessed with two boys, 7 yrs and 2 yrs, after treatment. At this stage I am focusing only on the PCOS. My ob/gyn wants to put me on birth control pills also but I'm concerned about the side effects, namely blood clots, at my age/weight. There has to be other options. Thank you again and good luck to you as well! Sue (trying to decide whether to have WLS or not)

Oh, I should have added that! She will definitely see you without the whole infertility issue. I haven't had kids yet, and made it clear to her that I'm not trying to for another 2-3 years. It opened up the discussion on why I didn't want birth control pills, but she was very willing to work with me without my trying to get pregnant. In fact, she told me that she sees women in all stages of life (teens through menopause). Good luck, and I hope you like her. I'm not as familiar with her partners, Drs. Padilla and Bass, but I've heard good reviews from a few of their patients, too. Tiffany

Hi Tiffany, I'll give them a call. Thanks for all the info! I'd like to finally get this diagnosis diagnosed or not and move forward. It's nice to find a doctor that someone has had a positive experience in dealing with them. Thanks once again. Sue
