Topic: RE: Have pain like never before...
I can relate. Pre-op, I took mega doses of ibuprofen (doctor approved). Post-op, I try not to take much as I'm afraid of making a hole in my tummy, so I wince and deal as best I can (which isn't that well I admit). Heating pads help a little.
Topic: Have pain like never before...
Hi,
I'm currently having tests done right now 'cause I might have PCOS. My periods have been soooo irregular for the last 6 months, none for 100 days then back on schedule but very heavy and soooo painful.... I never had pain like that before, my periods never bothered me before, were very light and only lasted 3-4 days max. But now it lasts up to 7 days and heavy for at least 4 days. I am anemic and take Iron twice a day but I feel so weak during my period. I am not used to so much pain. Except for Tylenol, what else should I take for pain?
BTW, I'm still pre-op and should get VSG sometimes this year.
Thanks
Anne

Topic: First period after GB
Hi all,
Just wanted to say I am 5 weeks post op and got my first period on my own in a quite some time! Very excited and hoping my body is starting to "work". Just wondering how many of you became regular after your WLS. How long did it take? Our ultimate goal is to finally get pregnant (TTC for 7yrs now) and I'm hoping this is the first step! :)

Topic: RE: Hi All Quick question
I haven't had a baby or gotton pregnant yet. But I have been trying actively since March of last year. Did a Metformin, Provera, Clomid regimen for 6 months. No luck.
My Dr recommends waiting 12-18months to start TTC.
And there are several women on the Pregnancy After Weight Loss message boards that have PCOS and have had children after WLS.
Hope this answered your questions =)

Topic: RE: Dr. thinks I might have....
Hi Anne
I am so Glad to hear this. I am sorry for the angry tone of my first post. It honestly comes from my own experiences. I hope Dr's ARE getting more observant, I had the classic pcos body shape, and symptoms and still didn't get diagnosed until my early 30's. I try to keep my anger focused but occassionally it does overcome me.

Hi Lilitu,
I forgot to say that my dr. has been sending me for some tests. I went for an ultrasound of my ovaries just last week but i didn't get the results yet (8 to 10 days before my dr. gets them from hospital) and he will send me for blood tests on my next appointment. So, don't worry, he's a good dr. and he's checking into it. Thanks for your concern....

Topic: Great Children's weight loss camp in NC
My husband and I are just recently sleeved . I am 8 months out and lost 85 pounds, He is 1 month out and down 40 pounds. We have a teenage daughter who continues to struggle, although she is really starting to watch what she eats and is losing some of her excess weight. She was also diagnosed as PRE PCOS 3 years ago and started metformin.
I know that the younger kids are really not good candidates for surgery, that is why I am putting this camp out there in hopes that we can pass the word around on what a great place it is and possibly help a few children. It was such a self esteem boost for her to attend camp.
She attended Camp Shining Stars in 2008(she was 12). Over 6 weeks she lost 30 pounds and came home a new girl. She is planning to attend this summer and I am overjoyed that she wants to return.
The director is Ira Green and his heart is with beating Childhood Obesity. He himself is a bypass patient so he knows firsthand the battle himself. He has a medical team of experts on board and the kids have a blast. They pick their own activities and eat well balanced meals. They are in safe hands. The camp is located on the campus of Barton College in Wilson, NC. We live just outside of Nashville, Tn and it was only about an 8 hour drive to get her there. If you are interested or know someoone who is, please check it out.
WWW.CAMPSHINGSTARS.ORG or call Ira Green at 1-866-644-2709 toll free, or 919-949-7415.
Please tell him Cheri from Tennessee is where you heard about this great chance for a child.
I just want to get this word out, since I was an overweight child I know how painful it was growing up overweight.
Thanks and please pass the word to anyone you may know. This camp is much cheaper than the others I have checked out, PLUS the kids are guaranteed to lose 7-17% of their total weight during their stay. If you have any questions please feel free to email me as well

I read about that and it sounds like a good thing. I read about a woman that took that with the Vitex and she concieved (this is the website I found out about the Royal Jelly-
