Aside from the weight gain, have your other symptoms reappeared?

Sorry I can't be of more help but I sooo know how you feel. I have been on metformin for PCOS for 10 years now and sometimes stop taking it cause the side affects are too bad (1000 mg a day makes me sick/500 mg a day does nothing)... and when I do I will gain 10 lbs within a few days. What's with that? So, I sympathize. And I wish someone would figure out WTF is up with PCOS.

I'm also on metformin for PCOS and it's never actually helped me lose weight (been on it 10 years) but I think it tends to help me not gain. If I go off it I gain 10 lbs immediately. I've gone off a couple of times cause the side affects are pretty bad sometimes. Hoping I could stay on it after surgery until I no longer need it. Hoping that if I lose a lot I won't need it then.

I am still taking my metformin. My doctor suggested keeping me on it just because. I've lost 53 pounds and will be a year out on the 27th of this month. But have gone from a size 18 to about a size 4 depending on my jeans but a comfortable 4 nothing tight or constricting. I've read that it does help with weightloss. I would stay on them if possible it doesn't hurt anyways.

Jackie -
I would take a late period any day of the week! Mine was absent for 11 months until the month before surgery - and then it reappeared - and now it's every 15 to 18 days and (probably a combination of the Coumadin and the hormones) it's the worst! For 3 to 4 days I have to get up in the middle of the night for maintenance!! I'm convinced that our hormones hate us ... I'm sure the hormones balanceing themselves is why it showed up again (after the first 70 pounds), but Dear Lord ... I wi**** would settle out at some point. I don't get moody - but i DO get severe migraines for 2 to 5 days EVERY time. :o(
Hang in there - this too shall pass!

Did you go back on it or stay off it? Did it help with the weightloss etc??

I had lapband so I am curious if I should go back on it!

Thank you

I would say so, b/c that was my only comorbidity before surgery, now I'm seeing a cycle every month since surgery.
