Topic: RE: Has anyone gotten pregnant before the 1 year of post op is up?
plenty of women have gotten pregnant before the year mark, including me! lol i am just shy of the 10 month mark and i am 6 weeks preggo!
As for being ready? only you and your doctor can really decide that! i have read where woman have had their surgeons tell them to go ahead and try eventhough they had yet to reach the recommended 18 months-2year mark. I would definitely get together with an RE and have them work together with your surgeon to decide what is best for you!
best of luck with no whatever you decide =)

you should definitely look into both getting a diagnosis and some birth control girl! i didn't have a period for 3 years...lost some weight pre surgery and they came back, but still irregular. After surgery period came back like clock work and well NOW i am also KNOCKED UP!!!!
I'm a bit further out then you (almost 10 months) and praying for a healthy pregnancy none the less BUT you should try your best to follow Dr's orders.
Like mentioned before, PCOS is definitely not birth control, lol we both know that now!! Hormones have a tendency to go crazy and to REGULATE after extreme weight loss =)

Topic: RE: Pcos and Pregnacy
Just wanted to share that i was diagnosed with PCOS 6 years ago and was not able to get pregnant for all 6 of those years (wasnt trying ttc BUT wasnt trying to prevent it either).
I am a few days shy of being 10 months post op (had RNY) and i am now 6 weeks pregnant. Never been pregnant before and i am so extatic.
It is no joke when the dr says that you may become super fertile after WLS (even us PCOSers)
My fiance and i were not ttc and infact i was using the nuva ring and still using the "pull out" method lol
STILL got knocked up haha!!
It can and will happen for you hun, i feel it =)
you're very brave to take such a huge step towards mommyhood by exploring WLS as an option for you.
P.s. i dont recomment going against dr's orders by getting pregnant as early as i did but luckily i was only a couple of lbs shy of goal and pretty stable in my weight loss when it happened, dr is confident that i wont have any added issues simply because ive had weight loss surgery!

I've had spotting consistently since my 1st month out from surgery. It is still lingering.

My Dr. put me on the Nuva Ring and it has worked like a charm, but you need to remove it before intercourse......lol

Otherwise, it works great!

Topic: RE: Best WLS for PCOS?
It is so different for everyone!
I have suffered from PCOS, Insulin resistance, Type II Diabetes, & Infertility since my teens, but sing my RNY in July I have lost almost 100 lbs.  I now do not have to take ANY medications including Metformin.  My cycles are regular and I am on BC to avoid a pregnancy too early.  Just b/c one person does not have a successful WL experience doesn't mean it doesn't work.

My advice is to research the different surgeries and studies that have been done.  Also, your Surgeon should be able to provide you with all the information you need and answer any of your questions.  RnY was recommended for me by my Primary Dr. as well as my surgeon...1 reason being that the surgery bypasses the pancreas which controls your insulin.

My WLS has been a success and I look forward to starting a family next year.....

Best of luck to you on your journey!
