Topic: Very Confused...

before my wls I was on glucophage *insulin pill* and then had complete hysterectomy and haven't taken anything for my pcos, do you think I should since wls and hysterectomy does not erase pcos? Gained 60 pounds in less then a year, wondering if some of the weight gain is from pcos and pour eating choices. Hope some one can help. Thank

Hi VP,
I AM A HUUUUUUGE FAN OF FEMARA!!!!!!!!! I never tried clomid, but on my first round I tried one round of Femara along with the trigger shot and nothing happened. Along wPCOS I have a blocked right tube w a powerful right ovary and an open left tube with a weak and polycystic left ovary- so we thought our only chance was ivf.
The second month, I took the femara, but actually cancelled the ultrasound to see the size of my follies and decided not to try- we"d instead wait until the 3rd month, so I never even took the trigger shot since we werent trying. Low and behold weeks later I find out that I'm pregnant... while not even trying. We only bd on cd 10 and 17. And I know it was all because of the femara.
Oh and since I was diagnosed w PCOS as a pre-teen, I also asked my RE to start me back on the metformin. I started back on that around the time i started the 2nd round of femara.
SO for those of us with pcos and ttc, I am a big fan of the use of metformin and femara together- I am pregnant for the first time in my life. I wish you the best in your journey!!!!!

Yes, just like Snape mentioned- she needs to come off the pill, see if she's regulated w her periods and try some bed dancing to conceive. If after a year nothing happens, she eventually needs to see a reproductive endocrinologist.
It worked for me.
Best wishes to her and your journey to grandma status!!!

201 pounds lost since surgery!! And I'm 2 1/2 inches taller too!!
And YES I still eat Carbs and Fats but I know what portion control is!!
Surgery Date: 6/5/07
The ladies all answered as I would have but please know after RNY we do not absorb the pill as we did before so don't rely on it for birth control.
I was taken off the pill and tried the shot but I've been with the ring for almost a year now and I love it!! It keeps my cycle regular and is always back up birth control...condoms are first.
Also once I was below 175 pounds I no longer needed anything to keep my cycle regular it is like clockwork now.

Topic: RE: Help! I've had my period since AUGEST!
I would talk to a doctor. Maybe even at least your primary care physician. You could be loosing lots of iron having bled this long!!! Iron deficiencies make you lethargic and tired. ARe you feeling like that? I would NOT even consider a clinic. You need a GYN. I know it's scarry. Maybe a friend can go with you? You will feel so much better knowing facts about what is going on than stressing about things you don't know for sure.
Topic: RE: New here and new to PCOS
I am 8 weeks out and I've lost 30 lbs. It's very slow. I still have my PCOS symtoms. I HATE my facial hair...it sucks and makes me feel ugly. I went to my GYN yesterday and she said I will always have PCOS. It never goes away.
Topic: RE: pcos, absent periods and a d&c??
I don't have any wisdom. I think 17 is young I heard D&C hurts really bad. Hope it all works out OK.

Geesh! I would definately get this out of the way if it hasn't been for 3 years. Imagine the thickening of the lining in your uterus for 3 years not being shed. Hang in there. It will get normal once this gets out of your system. I would have to use provera every 3 months for 2 weeks to have a period before I got on BC pills. BC pills can be good at least you would know what week to expect your period once you get regulated.
Good luck sweetie. keep the heating pad close by. it helps

Topic: RE: PCOS control
I am 8 weeks out. I still have my symptoms. I HATE my facial hair. I am always plucking away. The only thing that is different is that I am on my BC pills and I have periods all over the place. I used to knew what week I would have it, now it's a crap shoot. I went to the GYN yesterday. She said I could go off my BC pills to lower my blood pressure but that my lining would thicken up again and my horomones would be all whacked out worse then what they already are with my body changing from the surgery and loosing weight.
