It didn't happen to me, but I have heard of it happening to other PCO'ers.  Call your gyn -- they can give you some meds to stop the bleeding.  I hope it goes away soon!

I was diagnosed with PCOS a few years ago, and really have only had the symptoms of thin hair, and no period.  Well, I got my period the day after I got home from the hospital (not awesome) and its STILL HERE!  I had my surgery on May 11th, so its going on three weeks. This happened once before when I was having panic attacks and my body was under alot of stress. Did anyone else have this happen right after surgery?

I have a similar story....it took 7 years for our second daughter (finally diagnosed with PCOS during this time) and we were done with kids by the time I decided to have my RNY!  Had unprotected sex with my hubby one time after a conversation about having a third and got pregnant right away! I am positive my RNY and the 105 pound weight loss did the trick for us!  So we have a 10 year old, 3 year old and a 7 month old!  Oh, and I am 35.

My OB/GYN put me on The Sugar Buster's Diet and it worked like a charm!  I started having regular periods and some initial weight loss from it.  The book explains the theory behind the diet (low carb) and also includes recipes!

Good Luck!

I had two girls prior to my RNY, and they were 7 years apart due to PCOS.  I had RNY for health and weight reasons and to help with PCOS, but had no intentions of having anymore children.  Our youngest turned 2 very close to my one year surgiversary (down 105 pounds at that time) and my husband and I had a conversation about trying for a third once I was a little farther out from surgery.  Well...so much for planning...I got pregnant INSTANTLY!  I know have a gorgeous 7 month old son and he was my first non high risk pregnancy!  By far the best pregnancy of them all!

Now, I have to be honest here though...I would never change a thing and I am so blessed to have him, however, I am struggling to lose the baby weight and that is how I found this site.  Definitely worth every pound, but I just want to warn you that I am working very hard and it's only slowly falling off.  It's very frustrating.

Good luck!

Topic: Weird hormones after 7 months post-op. Yes I have PCOS
As I stated above I have been going potty almost everyday. Was having bladder pain again. Went  into to my PCP and was told I didnt have a infection. But since I keep having this problem so they want to see a Urologist. On a second note, I am having Hormone issues. My AF was funky last month. My AF is suppose to come in 2 days (we shall see). I was NOT pg. So today I went to see my ob/gyn. I told her what was going on with my funky body hair, period, and not loosing weight for like 16 days of a month. She given me Metaformin and Spiro. I really dont want to take Met again. But if my hormones are out of whack, I dont see that I have a choice. I have never taken Spiro and I am concerned about side-effects. I dont want to have to keep taking it , just to keep the hair at bay. Rogaine is like that so to speak.

So here is a question for those post-op divas......has your hormones started getting weird after WLS?  Please remember I have had a normal period up until this point (6 months).  If your hormones went wacky, how so? and what did you do about it?
Oh, I have been on BCP's since June 2007 and had regular periods ever since.

Thanks. I have a regular endocrinologist for thyroid issues (which caused the steroid use). It wasn't until I was hospitalized with a multitude of huge, rupturing cysts that took my breath away that anyone put 2 and 2 together. I don't have an appointment until July with the endo but I wanted to "arm" myself with as much info as possible about solutions. I''ve always trusted the OH peeps!

Hello-
I had my surgery in January and started having signs of PCOS symptoms right after. Like the facial hair, irregular periods, skin tags, and brown spots on my face. My doctor said to me on my 3 month post op appt that as I lose weight my symptoms should clear up. But on my 6 month post op appt if it has not then he would refer me to an endocrondologist. I've lost a total of 43 lbs since my surgery and I still notice the symptoms there just not as bad. I have had other women issues so I don't know if maybe that's why they also haven't cleared up completely.  I hope that I can get these issues resolved soon.  I know they also said that when you have PCOS it causes insulin resistance which also causes weightloss issues. I was at a stall for about two months before I knew this and then found out. I discussed it with my PCP she gave me a presciption for metformin and it broke my stall within a few days. Goodluck........
