Topic: RE: vitex??
Hey sweetie- don't know what happened but guess I didn't see this message. I was looking for information on if you should stop taking Royal Jelly once you ovulate or to take up until BFP or what and I came across these posts from a few months ago. I am not pregnant yet. I am currently 1dpo according to FF i got a +opk yesterday. I started 1,000mg of Vitex in June so this month is my 3rd month. I had like a 65 day cycle. And this time I O'd on cd25. So very very exciting. I am taking Royal Jelly with the vitex. And using eggwhites instead of pre-conceive this time. So we'll see what happens. I should know either on or the day after my honey's Birthday. So would be so cool to surprise him with a BFP for his Birthday!
Anyway, I hope all is going well with your pregnancy. Hope to hear back from you soon, I hope u see this! lol

cysts also come and go, so just because you don't have some today doesn't mean you don't have them at other times.

Topic: RE: Just diagnosed with PCOS...
Just some info that I found helpful.

Women with polycystic ovarian syndrome often are infertile because they don't ovulate. 40% to 80% of women with PCOS have a problem with fertility. The reason for this wide variation is that polycystic ovary syndrome is a complex metabolic syndrome, with multiple factors that can interfere with fertility. Pcos isn't curable, only treatable. Metformin is a very pronounced drug in teh treatment of PCOS.

Metformin (Brand name: Glucophage). Metformin is an insulin-sensitizing agent that is sometimes used in conjunction with Clomid(fertitlity medication). Metformin may increase your fertility to the extent that it reduces insulin resistance, and thus helps to normalize insulin. Too much insulin reduces your fertility. But by no means is it a fertility drug.

Topic: Just diagnosed with PCOS...
last Thursday, the 9th... I was put on Metaformin.. I was told to take 1 (500 mg) pill a day for a week, 2 a day for the second week, and 4 a day thereafter... which is cool.. as long as it cures it.. but my question is... am I more likely to get pregnant if I miss a birth control pill now... Does this Metaformin medicine acually make you ovulate... ? How long after you were taking Metaformin did you become pregnant?

Thanks!

Topic: spotting or bleeding 7 months post op after TAH?
I have notice the last couple months spotting or bleeding. Like today I had blood in my underwear and when I wipe. how can this be if I don't have a uterus or cervix anymore. I still have my ovaries. I just had ultrasound 2 weeks ago to see if my cysts came back and it came back normal. I am getting all signs of a period, headache, bloating, weight gain, acne and just so tired. Along with spotting and light bleeding. Is this normal? I thought after having TAH that there is no more periods. I could barely do 30 min of exercise at the gym today. I am 46 yr old now and just wish this would end.
I just got off the phone with him and they said this isn't normal but can't get in to see him until sept 21st which is weird. So guess see what happens on that day

Topic: RE: PCOS but no Cysts????

PCOS symptoms tend to start gradually and often start in the early teens.

Frequently PCOS symptoms are mistaken for other medical problems.

With polycystic ovary syndrome you may have only a few symptoms or many symptoms.

The symptoms of PCOS include, but are not limited to the following:

  • irregular or no menstrual periods
  • acne
  • obesity/weight gain/inability to lose weight
  • breathing problems while sleeping
  • depression
  • oily skin
  • infertility
  • skin discolorations
  • high cholesterol levels
  • elevated blood pressure
  • excess or abnormal hair growth and distribution
  • pain in the lower abdomen and pelvis
  • multiple ovarian cysts
  • skin tags
Notice that cysts are ONE of the symptoms not a mandatory symptoms. I never had them either. I was also never depressed, don't know if I was infertile because I never attempted to have kids (just was not to be). BUT I did have all the other symptoms.

How I was diagnosed was thru blood tests.

Those are the ones that really make the difference, not the ultrasound.

Topic: Having WLS then gaining weight
Alright, so I've done all I can as far as finding somebody to talk to about this. My mother worked with a lady 6 or so years ago that has a daughter a couple years older than me that was diagnosed with PCOS and had RNY a year or so after she was diagnosed. I shortly after her got diagnosed (or whatever) by the same Dr shortly after her.

Anyway, she is like maybe 5 years or so out of having RNY. I am currently 2 and a 1/2 years out. My lowest weight was 170 last July. Seriously after July I slowly started watching the scale go up and up now I am up to 225 (so I was not at 170 but for maybe a month). I have been going to the gym 5X's a week for 1hour. I have not lost a pound. I did do the 5 day pouch test and lost like 3 or 4. But I thought that going from basically not working out, to working out 5x's a week for an hour I'd see SOMETHING, either in my clothes or on the scale. But nothing. I have been going consistenly for the past 5 weeks now (elliptical, recumbent bike and treadmill on an incline). I know I could do better on my choice of foods, and my Dr's nurse said if I want to drop the weight like before RNY that I should go down to 3-4oz meals (70protein/30veggie). I need to be more consistent with eating healthier, etc. But still, why am I not seeing SOMETHING, ANYTHING? I've basically come here for a cry for help. There has to be somebody that has had this happen to them or something simular. Anybody???? Thanks!

Continue to exercise and eat healthy, but give in to those cravings even if they're little bits and you will have a healthy baby in your hands before you know it. It seems like pg does drag out but 10 months is a long time, but enjoy all those movements you feel inside and talk his/her ear off (it makes a difference for after they're born!). Start posting ultrasounds as you get them!!
