It looks disgustingly easy. I got it from the Kaye Wood website for $4. Its copyrighted, or I'd offer to send you a copy. It is actually a baby crib sized quilt. If one makes it bigger, it will take it longer, of course. Have you made a quilt yet? Or what have you made? I find quilting so relaxing. Cathy.

I'm a wanna be quilter from Northern Virginia (yes, it's different from the rest of Virginia). I've started a Tropical Forest quilt (cause I have exotic birds) but haven't got it lined up quite right. I've had to redo, undo, do overs. I've got a closet full of material and really love the log cabin quilts. I also started a memory quilt to display people that I have worked with. I had to stop cause I could not find any Williamsburg Material. Please Help! it's navy blue with a white stripe.

I made a memory quilt with some of my mother's shirts and blouses after she passed on. Doesn't replace my mother, but it is something I can cuddle into when I'm feeling down and miss her so. She's been gone three years now, and for some reason I found this Mother's Day to be particularly hard. Cathy.

I'm going to do a six hour quilt, designed by Kaye Wood, this weekend. Although it is called a 6 hour quilt, and no doubt can be done in 6 hours by the pros, my friend and I plan on using up the whole weekend. I'm slow when I quilt. My friend sews much faster, but she's new to piecing and gets frustrated. Between the two of us, we're, ... well ... slow. LOL! I also have another Amish Sunlight and Shadows to start. Think I might start that one tomorrow. I'm still recovering from a nasty infection and still on IV antibiotics, so can't go back to work yet. I tire too easily. But sitting and quilting I can do. Whenever I get too tired I can stop and crawl into bed with the kitties. By the way ... does anybody else here have a cat who insists on "HELPING" when you quilt? Grrrr. Ta ta for now and happy quilting, ya'll! Cathy. Down 150 since July 2003. Jeez, these emoticons are fun.

Topic: Another Quilter
Hi all. I'm Cathy from Toronto, Ontario. Had my surgery in July 2003 and so far have lost about 150 lbs. Got about 80 to go. I'm a self-taught quilter. Took lessons eventually though, to unlearn all the mistakes I taught myself. So far, I've made a baby quilt (Eye Spy pattern), an Amish Sunlight and Shadows for my own bed, and a couple of Split Rail Fence quilts for friends. In my "Still To Do" pile is another Sunlight and Shadows quilt, as well as another Split Rail Fence. I find quilting quite therapeutic, as I'm a counsellor/social worker. Cathy.

Hi Quilting is a very satisfying hobby. Unfortunately I'm at the point where I have more started than I can finish. If you enjoy doing simple quilts there is always a need for them for ill children. Check out www.projectlinus.org Joanne

Topic: New to this board
Hello, I just found this board. My name is Monna Walters. I live in Susanville, CA which is 85 miles northwest of Reno, NV. It is a very small town and we have lived here only 4 years, but we love it. I have been quilting for about 10 years, but seriously for about 2. I am awaiting my consultation visit with Dr. Cooper in Chico. I will not be cleared by my cardiologist until I have a thallium stress test. Hoping it all turns out well because I desperately need th surgery--sorry to get off topic of quilting. Anyway, I quilt about 5 hours a day. My daughter and I are in the process of opening a quilt shop here in town--tried of having to travel to buy fabric. Sometimes in the winter it is difficult to get out of town. All we have in town for fabric is Wal-Mart and the quality is not good. I love to do Celtic knots and design some knots. I enjoy traditional quilting, including hand quilting. About a year ago I discovered I also like applique. It has a wonderful rhythm to it.

Hi Debi , My name is jan maatje and I started quilting about 7 months ago and I just love it. I have the Bernina machine and the different stitiches I am still getting use to. I have a great circle of quilting friends already and can't wait to get to my Monday night classes. We are just finishing the crazy quilt. I did it in very cutsy fabrics for my new grandbaby who will arrive in May. Lots of fun. My surgery date is 3/22/04. Let me know how you are doing. My email is [email protected]. Have a nice day. Jan

Topic: First time quilter
Hello all, I started taking a quilting class this week and so far I just love it. I was hoping my grandma would be around long enough to show me how but that wasn't to be, she pasted on about a month ago. So this is the best I can do to keep the quilting going on in the family. I did find out that my machine is really really old, about 25-30 years old but it works and that's all that matters. If you have any advise I'd love to hear it.
