Considering Mexican Band .....is self inflation an option?

I know you RNs will understand, but I am concerned about finding a MD willing to work with me on inflating the band....all I see is how easy it is. If you are experienced at accessing an infusaport, shouldn't you be able to do this? Actually my boss and I are considering this, and could inflate each other. TIA Libby

Hey Libby, I had the same questions as I will be living a considerable distance from any lapband physicians. I am going to get a co-worker that accesses portacaths all the time to get comfortable with finding my port so that she can deflate it in an emergency. Not to concerned about fills as I don't mind driving 3 hours for that once in awhile. I may get her to tweak it if she and I are comfortable with that later. Good Luck. Beverly
