I had the surgery 3 weeks ago and am feeling great. You will too!! Just go slow and take it easy. Don't rush things! Good luck.

For the hospital bring a pillow, chap stick... I also brought face clothes, face lotion and hand lotion (Im a lotion freak), something comfy to go home in and slippers or slide on shoes. My mom is a nurse she said you do NOT want to walk around the hospital in socks - if they give you socks throw them away when you leave - sooo germy! Post-Op - I had to do a liquid diet 2 weeks post-op I bought everything I needed pre surgery so I would be ready when I got home. I bought a bunch of protein samples, different flavors of crystal light and stocked up on water/popscicles/jello etc. One thing I didnt have was any elastic/drawstring pants - I found I couldnt wear jeans for 2 weeks post-op because of the incision above my belly button. Its summer so its hard to find pants - just capris... I managed thou I also put a notebook together of everything my surgeon gave, I printed out "pouch rules for dummies" and about a zillion receipes somebody from here sent me (if you would like them email me your email and I can send). Since the surgery Ive added a chart to keep track of my weight and different exercises and tips for my work outs! I also started going to a support group pre-surgery and started meeting people so I would have a good support system

Hey Jennifer... My name is Kathryn and I am 38 years old and from Windsor Ontario Canada and I have my surgery scheduled in Michigan for August 14. Soooo scared and confused. Congrats on all of your success. Thank you for sharing your struggles with me..you have no idea how much better I feel after reading your profile with all of the helpful hints and tidbits. I can't thank you enough!!! It is such a personal thing to talk so openly about your health and I am honored that you let me in. I haven't seen anyone since being told of my sugery date so that is probably why I am so out of the loop. My pre-op testing is July 31/06 and I will be meeting with the Nut then so I am sure I will be a little less freaked out about what to eat and not eat. You mentioned you had some recipes, would you be so kind and e-mail them to me? I would also love to keep in touch through e-mail. Look forward to hearing from you Jennifer and keep up the good work you should be so darn proud of yourself. Also, just know that you made a difference in my life today and it all comes full circle! Thanks Sista!!!!! Kathryn e-mail [email protected]

As my surgery is Tuesday, I know what you are feeling...5 day jitters got to me yesterday too!!! I took the time to write down 5 things I want to do when I am a smaller me. I also had my daughter take pictures and measurements so that in weekly intervals, I can compare my success, or lack thereof. Make sure you have your supplements and protein purchased, as well as your post surgery liquids and foods. I had a thought, I am going to need to wash smaller clothes so I have something to wear after surgery. Hmmm, I haven't seen SMALLER sizes in a long time! Here's to our success!!! Post often and stay in touch.
