Energy level down at 3 months....any one else?

Hi Friends, Wanted to pick your brains.  I am nearly 13 weeks out, and up until this point, I have always said.."I feel great and my energy level is good."  Well, this last week, that is no longer true.  I am not pre menstral (which sometimes makes me feel tired,) I am eating 800-900 calories average per day, getting at least 64 grams protein (track on fitday) and most days over that amount of protein.  I am eating very few carbs, but protein like beans and some fruit.  So why am I starting to feel so tired?  I haven't been able to exercise the last few weeks because of a knee problem...so I am wondering if that lack of activity is causing me to feel more tired?  When I was walking, I really had energy to burn. (I also take my daily calcium and Multivite.) I sure would appreciate your opinions/suggestions.  Should I be eating more?  Adding something else?  Thanks for your help, Lura

Hey Lura, As you probably know, there are many things that could account for your feeling tired. Sometimes our bodies just go through a little adjustment period, and sometimes it is something more serious. Sounds like you are really on top of the protein and getting in your liquids each day. When was your last check up regarding your B-12 levels and other vitamins/minerals? Elaine

Hi  Elaine, Haven't had any blood work done yet.  Due next month.  I take a nasal B12 spray once a week....but doc said we should have enough stores of B12 to last several years before it becomes an issue...providing one is not deficient pre-op.....I have had a little more stress lately, but nothing serious enough to really cause me to feel overly tired... I am puzzled to say the least...thanks for your thoughts....and response... Lura

It could be the lack of exercise...it could be an iron deficiency...I would call your doctor and have your iron levels tested. Hugs...jenna

I would give your doctor a call & see if he can run your labs to check your Iron & B12 levels.  Are you getting those vitamins in daily?

are you getting enough fluids in? but to me if it started mainly after your knee started hurting and lack of exercise I think that might just be what's happening... your body is wanting to be lazy but your brain wants you to move ? if that makes sense... I hope you get to feeling better soon though Stephie

Starting at about 4 months out I got tired... it lasted until 9 months out!!!!!! My bloodwork came back perfect at 3 months and 6 months out. At my 6 month visit surgeon said some peoples bodies take longer to "feel the effects of malnutrition" and to wait until a year out to see how I was doing. I begged for a B12 shot and was told I needed to wait since by B12 levels were normal. I was taking a liquid BComplex and he said to switch to a B12 sublingual instead. I did at 6 months out and didnt notice much of a difference.... then at 9 months out I started to swallow the B12 sublingual instead of letting it dissolve in my mouth.... after 2 weeks the change was AMAZING. I now have my energy back!!! I see my NUT Friday so Im going to mention to her and see what she thinks... if it really is because I am swallowing it, is it all in my head or did my body just decide to finally adjust :)

First visit to surgeon - 288 ~ bmi 45.1

About a month ago I started taking a liquid B complex from GNC every day.  I have noticed a huge difference in my energy level in the month I have been taking it.  I have had my labs taken but haven't heard anything so for now am assuming everything is fine on that end.  I'm going to check them when I see my PCM soon.  I also upped my exercise recently and I think that has a lot to do with it too. Hope you get your energy back soon, it sucks to not have it!

Thanks, everyone , for your input.  I may try the B-12 complex from GNC.  I slept almost 12 hours last night, got up ate breakfast and could have went back to bed!!  This is just not me.  I feel like I really have to push myself to get anything accomplished.  My mood is good, so I know depression is not a factor..... I think if I hadn't been feeling so  good, I wouldn't have noticed that I am feeling so draggy now.  My NUT says to also add 15-25 Gm carbs per meal, that is what the body uses for energy, and since I am not really consuming a lot of carbs per day,  this could be adding to the fatigue.  I just hope and pray it soon leaves...... Thanks again for taking the time to help....my OH buddies are the best!! Lura

Actually 4 month out I had the same feeling, loss of energy, not eating, dizzy, stumbling and it was low potassium. My blood work was good on everything else.
