Amusement parks post-op

I'm sure there are many people who, like me, look forward to going to Amusement Parks post-op and being able to fit on all of the rides.  One trip I'm really going to look forward to will be going back to Disney World - - - even though it's very fat-friendly there and I fit on all of the rides no problem this past March.  Does anyone know if there are any limitations after having gastric bypass as to rides that may not be safe to go on?  I know there are some rides that incur some serious G-forces, and involve riding in a centrifuge and I'm just wondering if I will ever be able to go on them once I have the surgery? I was too chicken to ride Mission: Space and Tower of Terror this past spring, but I sure would like to next time. In the same vein, I'm kinda bummed out that my surgery will likely not be until after my husband's annual company picnic this year, which is always at an amusement park.  Last year I rode a kiddie coaster with my son, and I was almost stuck on it.  The ride attendant had a hard time getting the lap bar latch to open back up once it was jammed down over my stomach.  How humiliating!

I had surgery 2-21-07 and asked my surgeon if I would be able to ride roller coasters when I go to Disney World in November and he said yes.  It was a generic question (didn't specify what type of roller coaster with G-forces or anything).  I would recommend asking your surgeon before you get on a ride.  When is your surgery and when are you going to Disney World?  I went of Tower of Terror several years ago and loved it!   I usually can't stand scary rides but this one was cool!

Right now my goal is go back in late September of 2008, although the whole family is so anxious to go back, I wouldn't be surprised if we tried to move it up to next February instead if we can afford it by then, which would put me at probably 4 months post-op as I'm assuming my surgical date will likely be this September or October.

I don't enjoy amusement park rides myself but do know many post ops who enjoy them.  Just check with your surgeon & enjoy!

I can't wait to return to amusement parks full-force, either! I haven't been in years simply because I was afraid I wouldn't fit on the rides and that the attempts that ensued would be mortifying. I told my parents the other day that the first place I'm going when I really start slimming down is Six Flags. Ha ha.

i know i'm a wimp when it comes to scary things, but i am really excited to ride amusement park rides post-op (whenever that is). i would suggest asking your doctor/surgeon, but it sounds like a blast. i've never been to disney world, but i'm sure it's a fun place! enjoy it, whenever you do make it there.
