i had the vaginal odor before surgery, i got tested and everything obgyn and pcp both said i was ok. now since surgery i have been able to maintain it. Not sure if it were because of the antibiotics i was on or what. But one thing for sure my surgeon after surgery gave me diflucan because i got a yeast infection that will occur in some women from taking different antibiotics. So you may want to ask your surgeon about that.

This comment had a point right? I mean nobody is here picking up men and it's a problem for women who have had surgery. I'm sure very many of us are far over curtailing our comments because of what some MAN is reading, thinking, doing. So actually... what was the point?

Honestly. Why would you care about women who are speaking candidly to one another. Why would you say... oh every man has probably read this. You seem to have no point at all.

Right after surgery I noticed my "scent" was not the healthy one it usually was. I attributed it to chemicals leaving my body. Certain foods (salmon, aspragus) and medicines will mess with your scent too. But- it does ease up. I don't have the issue anymore and I am 2 months out, appx. Waste leaves your body in multiple ways- things are thrown off balance (your pH levels) -- not to mention the hormonal effect - I have pulled a whisker or 2 from my chin and I am only 31.

My comment was merely an attempt to get some panties in a bunch......seems to have worked. Sonny

I had the same thing after surgery though I can't remember how long............I  had a hysterectomy some years before WLS but the odor was almost, though not half as strong, as being on my period. My daughter had surgery at the same time as I did and she said that she never experienced it.. I subscribe to the hormones released during the first few months of dramatic weight loss theory. My WLSurgeon said that he has never heard anyone say anything about the smell before. I wonder if he still holds to that.......................

Is it a chemical smell...similar to nail polish remover?  If ,so it is due to ketosis from the fat your body is breaking down.   I have noticed this but was confident that it is ketosis. I agree with the person that suggested shaving to mimize the 'scent.'
