Anyone have any remedies for removing all that sticky residue left behind from weeks of surgical tape???  My belly looks horrible and it's not coming off in the shower.

Rubbing alcohol on a cotton pad, or even baby/mineral oil. :)

Funny you should ask.  I just got out of the hospital Monday, and both visits to the hospital I wore a red bracelet saying "sensitive to adhesive."  Well, I guess they either can't read or can't avoid all tape, 'cause I got tracks of bright red adhesive marks all over my torso, arms, etc., some that were even scabbing over.  I thought if they scar, I'll have to turn them into tattoos.  Anyway, one of the ICU nurses gave me little packets (like wet-wipes come in at restaurants) of something called adhesive tape remover pad.  I just happen to have one in my pocket because in the shower this morning I noticed some more I had missed(!).  Anyway, she said she thought you could get them at a lot of pharmacies or Target, maybe just ask.  The brand I have is PDI, but it may be a hospital brand only.  I had tried baby oil, but even that wasn't helping too much. Good luck, Sally

Baby oil works wonders. Just go gently, rubbing in circles.

finger nail polish remover.....oil didn't work for me - it just moved it all around but didn't get it off. it's non toxic so i figured it wouldn't hurt. it stung a little bit but sure didn't hurt & worked magiccccccccccccc!

You've gotten great suggestions already, but I just wanted to say the sticky tape residue was very annoying and I don't think I felt "human" agian until after that was all gone.

My doctor suggested nail polish remover but that didn't work so well.  I tried rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab and it came off right away!!!

WHEN I HAD SURGERY BACK IN 2003, I DID NOT KNOW IT AT THE TIME BUT, I AM ALLERGIC TO PLASTIC AND RUBBER SURGICAL TAPE.  IT ACTUALLY BURNS AND BLISTERS MY SKIN!  I  TRY TO MAKE SURE THEY DON'T MAKE THAT MISTAKE ON ME AGAIN.

If the baby oil doesn't work, and it really bothers you definitely get some adhesive tape remover. They sell it at most pharmacy's, you could probably get a good deal on ebay or something. I had a wound nurse give me some, and it works wonders! It's also great when first taking off the tape, so your skin doesn't get ripped up as much.
