What can I take?

I've had a horrible backache for the last three days.  I was avoiding taking anything for it but I can't take it any more.  I'm almost 7 months out.  What can I take for this?  I had a med list but, of course, I can't find the darned thing. Thanks!

I know you can take Vicodin, Tylenol, Extra Stength Tylenol, but stay away from NSAIDS (Aspirin, Naprosin/naproxin sodium, etc).

I just have to tell you I hate this list!  Ibprofen is the ONLY thing that has ever helped my headaches and cramps!  I don't know what I'm gonna do after surgery - Tylenol does absolutely nothing for me *sigh*  This is not a very happy moment

Annie, that may change after surgery...as with our tastes in foods, medications may work differently as well. Tylenol may help after sugery, all you can do is give it a try. =)

I'm the same way.. Advil used to be my best friend.. I rarely need to take anything anymore. Less pain, less headaches :) when I do get headaches or pains they seem to be less severe.. like I really don't need to take anything

Have you tried any prophylactic migraine medications? If you get enough migraines, you might want to take a medication to prevent them. Ever since I started taking Elavil, I have less migraines than I've ever had in my life. Elavil isn't the only choice, but it works for me.e.

Years of NSAIDS messed up my stomach so they stopped being an option for me before surgery. I prefer to prevent them as much as possible.

Tylenol has NEVER helped me in the pain or fever department. I have gotten some mighty awful cramps since my period has returned post op and I found a medication at CVS  and it's their store brand pill and it's called menstral relief or something like that (I don't have the bottle right here in fact I think I need more) and they don't have an NSAID in them (even though acephetamine was listed and a mild diuretic I made sure to ask the pharmacy lady to MAKE sure that it didnt),  they actually do help atleast take the edge off of it and I use a heating pad.
