6 pounds stand between me and the rest of my life

I know I should be positive. I am so much closer then so many people who are fighting their insurance,  their doctors, their job, their families. Still its 6 pounds and 6 days. MVP insist I lose 20 pounds before they pay for surgery. It is scheduled for the 28th of January. I had lost it all, and then the last time I went in, I had gained 6 of it back. I had the flu right before I gained and actually got so dehydrated I had to go get an IV. They suspect that is the problem since I have been ever faithful to my 1000 calorie diet, they think I was retaining water. 6 pounds of water???!!! Anyway, I do not know how many days they will give me to lose until they force me to reschedule. I pray that I can lose the weight. My grandmother is flying out Saturday for my surgery (my whole family lives in California and I am in NY). I am just feeling discouraged. Which makes me wish I could eat. Oh and BTW....did McDonalds get a memo that I was having surgery and thats why they brought back the McRib??? *******s! hehehe...

The Chicken and Green Bean diet has worked for a lot of my friends in your situation.

I lost 12 lbs on my pre-op semi liquid diet 2 weeks prior to my surgery.  Perhaps you should try this.   Breakfast  = 1 low carb slim fast shake Lunch        = 1 Low carb slim fast shake Dinner       = 3 oz chicken or Fish, and 1 cup cooked veggies You can have all the SF Liquids, Raw veggies (including pickles) all day long.  Also no caffiene.

Insurance companies are EVIL!! I am so sorry you have to go through this.  Just hang in there you are so close.  They would be so wrong to deny you over 6 lbs but I know they would.  3 years ago I was scheduled to have a lap band and I had went through the 3 month pre op classes all of the pre surg labs and everything and three days before my surgery date right before I was going to start my 3 day clear liq diet they called and said that they were denying my claim because they said it was experimental But looking back I am kinda glad it happend because I have over 100 lbs to lose and the RNY is a better option for me.  anyway I am sending best wishes your way!!!

You can totally retain six pounds worth of water.  Hell, that's the norm for when I'm on the rag.  I'd check myself if I were you before going in so I wouldn't be disappointed.  Just make sure you wear really thin light clothing!  I can't imagine them denying you over 1 or 2 pounds.  Try not to stress too much cause you know that can make you hold onto the weight as well.  Just relax, breath deep, think thin thoughts, and best of luck to you!
Staying away from the evil scale as much as possible!!!

Six pounds in a week-- after having IV fluids? Completely do-able. I gained 7 in December from IVs and dropped it again in four days. Just do NOT stop drinking as much water as you can consume to bring your numbers down-- I did that and it caused me LOTS of surgical complications I could have avoided by not being a dumb-ass.

Hang in there, Lii.  I was in the same situation and my bariatric nurse told me to hydrate.  She told me to mix my water with Crystal lite and drink, drink, drink.  My PCP refused approval until I lost 15 pounds.  Thank God, the water helped and I got approval and am having surgery on 1/28.  Don't give up!  You can do it.  Just hydrate and exercise,  It gave me such satisfaction to have lost the 5 pounds.  They had to approve.   Will talk to ya post-op. Good luck to you. That requirement will not hold up in court. It was one of the things the judge found in my favor when my ins. company went to court with me. An inability to lose weight is WHY you are in this jam. They don't tell blind people they have to see before they can get eye surgery. That being said, I hope you make it and don't have to fight it.
