Can we all stop the cross-board bickering?

Please everyone, Can we stop the fighting?

I am a fairly new post-op, and yes, I had RNY. I did research my options, and I chose what I felt was best for me, just like everyone else, they chose what is best for them.

We all started out the same way, Obese, in some way shape or form. We all decided to do something about it. Are people who had DS any different than us RNY’ers? No, they, like us, felt that surgery was their only option to lose weight, and to possible help out health issues they were having.

Did what the DS-ers do help them? Yes. Did RNY help us? Yes. It is a different surgery, but the end result is the same – weight loss, and a healthy new way of doing things. Yes, you can eat more with DS. But honestly, I did not want a surgery that allowed me to eat more, and possibly regain weight somewhere down the line. I wanted a permanent alternative, forcing me to change my habits, because being forced was, for me, the only way I would do it.

I think anyone who chose any type of surgery for weight loss should be commended, not flamed for their choices. The should be commended because they made a conscious effort to do something about their health, body, and mind. WLS is hard, it is not the easy way out, no matter what surgery you had.

So, I ask you DS-ers, if you do not have something positive to add over here, please stay on your own board. That is why there are different boards for the different types of surgery. Stay out of our business, and we shall stay out of yours. Enough already. We are all adults, aren’t we?

Hey I have that t-shirt! I also have a t-shirt with the Emden-Meyerhoff pathway but it's still too small to wear. Someday soon I'm gonna wear that sucker.
