Sugar Free Instant Jello Pudding & diarrhea..

Been eating this since about 2 days post-op. I usually mixed some protein powder in it and occasionally PB2 or an extract of choice. Usually topped with SF Cool Whip. Always make it with skim milk, already found I will dump on 2% milk.

The last 2 weeks it has given my diarrhea no matter which flavor I use, and with or without the cool whip.

The only good thing is that I know if I get constipated to bad from my iron, etc, I have an alternative to colace.

Anyone else have this?

It nay not be the SF pudding but the milk.  Maybe you become lactose intolerant... it happens often post surgery...

I don't think it is the milk because I can drink it with the NSA Carnation Instant Breakfast and in soups.
Wondering if it is the sweetener they use in the pudding mix?

May be the sweetner, or any other flavoring.  I know i can not eat the ready SF puddings, since they do contain sugar alcohol.  But the mix that I need to mix with milk- no problem.   i do try to buy organic lactose free milk (just in case). i do not dump on that, but I do have a problem with regular milk,  More than 6 oz, and I do not feel too good regardless if it skim, full or 2%..

Once day, during 1 hr, I had 8 oz of milk, then had 4 oz of yogurt - then next 2 hrs I was between bathroom and the bed.  That remained me that I can not have more than 6 oz of milk products a day.

I believe you ar developing lactose intolerance.  It doesn't always develop immediately, but is quite common. Just because you have tolerated skim milk in the past, it may be time to switch to soy or almond milk, or lactose free milk.  It could also be the artificial sugar, or if it has sugar alcohols, it could be that.   If it offends you, you need to stop trying at least for a few months.

I have seen them but I read on a post on here that they contain something (can't remember what) that makes them not so good for us.

I can't do any sugar free stuff, and especially anything with dairy in it. I developed lactose intolerance and also cannot tolerate the sugar alcohols in artificial sweeteners since surgery. It may be one or the other or a combination of both.
