A pain in my BUTT!

Okay, so plenty of people have talked about having a sore behind after losing weight. Well, I definitely have that issue. Even at 200+ lbs still, my butt/tailbone gets incredibly sore even on a comfy couch, mattress, etc. This can happen at 1 hr into sitting.

Weeeell, I'm moving to New York this week, and I'll be on a 10-14 hr ride in a cargo van/truck. I'm quite concerned about what to do to alleviate the butt pain, because I can only shift in my seat so much. My mother suggests getting one of those doughnut pillows to sit on. Has anyone tried that, or any other cushions do the trick?

Sorry I've been sort of MIA on OH lately. I graduated from college and now I'm back home. Still job hunting but I found a temporary paid internship in NYC, so I'm packing up and moving!

I am "glad" to hear someone else with the same issue.  One reason I had WLS was to improve my back.  Everything else has been fantastic, I am down 162 lbs in 8 months....BUT my back is worse than before and my tailbone is the worst.  I have done injections, chiropractor, sleep on my back with pillows, sleep on my side with pillow between my legs and nothing helps.  If someone else has ideas, you would help at least 2 people !!!!!!

Did you have back pain before surgery?

I didn't really have noticable/recurring back pain before the surgery. But I notice more back pain now, actually, if I'm laying a certain way. I can't quite put my finger on it, but I do notice the pain.

Definitely get a donut pillow for that kind of trip. They help incredibly with tailbone pain. When I broke my tailbone I used one and realized the wonderment of the donut. Then when I had a 10 lb 2 oz baby sitting in abdomen it helped then too. All they do is take the pressure off the tailbone because of the hole (so placement is important) because the donut supports everything else except the tailbone.

Nothing worse then tailbone pain. It can be a real pain in the ****yx.

(Thank you! Thank you! I'll be performing here through the weekend!)

So excited for you Emily!!! Go you!!!

Thanks, Jenny! It's so weird to have a booty but still have the pain. It can get so uncomfortable even moving to reposition is painful. If my job seems like it's sitting heavy - highly doubtful as an intern - I'll have to take that with me to work.

Welcome to the " I have a tailbonepaininthearse club" LOL

Get a dounut pillow and have a safe trip.
Walgrens has them for around 15 bucks. Not the pretty ones but the foam shaped ones

WOW!  Congrats Emily!!    That is so awesome -  I am happy for you.

Another suggestion for the drive would be to stop and take a five min walk break every once in a while.  Dont wait until you are in pain to stop!

Have a blast in NYC!

Kelly,
Thanks for the idea. My mom is driving up, I'm riding (I have a whole history with driving/not driving, etc). So since she's the only driver and it's a 10-14 hr trip, we're trying not to make many stops. We already know it's going to be a long two days - since she's the only driver and we're going to have a small Uhaul to unload once we get there, we're splitting it into two days. So, the fewer stops, the better!
