Protein Shake Foam!

I am sampling different kinds of protein pre op and noticed this morning the large amount of foam that had build up in my mixing process (shaking in water).  I was trying Unjury.

Will this foam make my pouch grouchy?

What are some better ways of mixing to help keep the foam down?

Use a half cut of ice when making your protein shake.  This will cut down on the foam and make your drink a little thicker.  Below is how I make mine:

1/2 cup ice
1/4-1/2 cup water
1 scoop protein powder (chocolate or vanilla)
2 Tbs peanut butter
1/2 banana

If I use a blender I get a lot of foam.
One way to do that - shake it in a little of water, or stir it with a spoon.
Then you can add to other ingrediance and stir with water.

Words of wisdom: do not ingest the foam. I did just that and didn't realize what it would do to me (this was at 2-3 wks out). I thought I was dying it hurt so bad that I went to the ER to be told it was gas. That Magic Bullet was my enemy at that time!

Be happy.

I mix the shakes in the blender ball cup then let it sit a bit and the foam goes away. I have also been enjoying making hot cocoa with the chocolate powder, I mix it with a small amount of water then pour it into 3/4 cup of skim milk. Tastes even better with some whip cream!  Just remember the samples you are eating now will probably taste completely different after your surgery!

I use Nectar.  Add water, add protein mix, STIR with a SPOON, add ice and wait about two minutes.  Every protein I have used in a blender became a foam bomb!

yeah , I have to use a spoon to cut the foaming process. If it gets bad you can always let it rest a bit , but dont drink the foam - evil stuff !
