Teeth actually turning grey....

So i started to get this weird feeling on my front teeth. Brushed and brushed and it would not go away... Decided to look in the mirror and some of my teeth actually look like they are turning greyish towards the top of the tooth...

My surgeon said this has nothing to do with vitamins.... And good god i hate going to the dentist, but when i called them they had no idea what i was talking about...

Has anyone ever had something like this happen? I have an appointment next week with the dentist..

Have you recently had any trauma to those teeth (hit them, knocked them, etc.).  That could cause the pulp to die and that would cause them to turn grey.  Also if the pulp is infected it could cause this.

Also do you use any special mouthwash (like for gum disease)?  If it has chlorhexidine in it, that could be causing the problem.  When you stop using that it should go away.  Same with Amoxicilin.

If you had this earlier in life I would add it could be a mineral deficiency or use of other certain antibiotics and meds, but you're grown and your teeth aren't developing, so I would seriously doubt any of those.  That usually happens to children.

Best advice...see the dentist!!!

Not sure if this will help you figure it out or not, but here's what I got from webmd about possible causes.  http://www.webmd.com/oral-health/tooth-discoloration

I also searched grey teeth and it came up with a site for childrens cancer chemo treatments.  You haven't been radiated lately, I hope?

I got blackish stains on my teeth right after surgery that turned out to be from iron, especially the chewable.  I told my dentist (who I had just paid mega$$ for teethwhitening) and he said, "Oh that's easy to fix."

when I (gag) bought some liquid iron it had warnings all over the bottle about potential to disolor your teeth. So, I agree with Ludia. What are you doing for iron?

hope it isn't anything serious!

Well who would believe this one...

Apparently the color on my teeth are from my 10+ popsicle a day habit since surgery.... LOL Thats the only thing my dentist could come up with... I guess brushing just wasnt getting the color off... LOL

Not to be gross but that makes sense. My children, when little, would eat those push up pops that are basically koolaid in those plastic strips. They would eat so many there were rainbows in their diapers. lol  So it makes sense it would stain your teeth.

I am glad it wasnt anything serious!!
