What are you doing/eating today? Sunday (the morning after...)

I must say yesterday I did not do too bad.  I did not, however, stick to plan but it still wasn't bad.  I had:

B - italian cheesesteak omelette (made w/ egg whites, insides were sauteed deli roast beef, onions and green peppers with part skim mozzarella and spaghetti sauce on top - I am the omelette queen!)

L - See lunch was kinda funny.  We went to the Y so the kids could swim and I knew we were doing an early dinner with my family so I just scarfed an Atkins Advantage Chocolate Chip granola bar (17g of protein and yummy!)

D - No PF Chang's.  They were booked solid.  We went to an old family fave called Crab Quarters.  I had a salad topped with lump crab meat, scallops, and jumbo shrimp (ate the seafood but not so much of the salad greens).  I nabbed one buffalo wing from my daughter a bite of my other daughter's cream of crab soup and then ate one crab (and if you've ever seen Maryland crabs you know that, on the whole, they are not that big).  So I'm happy with how that turned out.

LNS - I was down some calories and I coulda (and prolly shoulda) had some sort of protein concoction but it was V-day y'all...so I had my Skinny Cow.

LLNS - This is where things got strange.  I was hungry.  Did the carrot stick test and everything and I was still hungry so I warmed up about 1/4 c. of my ghetto pad thai and that seemed to satisfy Ms. Pouch

So today:

B - Sipping on a peanut brittle protein shake and trying to understand how it is I can drink what tastes like a milkshake every day and still lose weight. Life is good.

L - Not really sure.  Got some errands to run (like reaming out sales staff over my fautly digital camera purchase).  I might try to get in a tortilla pizza before I set off to do all of that.

D - I have alfredo sauce in the fridge which is gonna go bad if I don't use it soon.  So I am thinking I'll see what I can do with some chicken and veggies and then I've got about 2 c. of spaghetti squash left.  I think I can make it work.

LNS - I dunno.  I just don't know.  There will be one b/c I go to bed late and I get hungry in the evening but it all seems like too much to figure out right this second!

We have SO much food in this house. I am keeping myself out of the kitchen unless it's to prepare or eat what's already made. NO new creations today. Must eat up leftovers.

breakfast - protein coffee and 2 mini protein muffins (even better the next day. I put them in a ziplock on the counter)

lunch - probably shredded beef soup that I made a couple of days ago. I just put the recipe on my youtube channel.

snacks and dinner - dunno yet. have lots of options.

What I WILL be doing today is restarting the couch to 5k podcast. I really really want to see how far I can get with this program.

 Hey Tara -

The best thing to do with that couch to 5k program is to find a 5k race and get yourself registered.  Here's the link to one of the most popular race registration sites.  Just enter your zip code and it'll bring up races in your area
http://search.active.com/?q=5k%20race&channel=&tab=events

I just registered for a race on March 22nd.  My support group ladies are all doing it together (with many bringing along their hubbys too).

Pam - thank you SO much for that link! I found a 'see jane run' store here that is doing a free 5k training in the spring! I'm so excited and hope I have the nerve to actually do it.

I did the day one of couch to 5k - love it. Great way to start out.

B - 1/2 pkt. Proti-Bars

S - 1.5 tortilla chips

L - 1 (or 2) oz. leftover prime rib and a tsp. of delmonico potatoes
(potatoes only if I can get in the meat)

S - NSA tapioca pudding

D - probably a repeat of lunch.

Very low energy day today. Even reading the Sunday paper was tough.

Lately every time I eat something I end up in pain.  It is either ulcer or twisted intestines.  Not much fun.  Pain starts 10-15 min after I eat and lasts anywhere from 30 min to 3 hrs.  Not much fun.
Yesterday I was trying to be on just clear liquids, but I got hungry so I started eating.  Initially the pain was manageable so I had a few meals.  But in evening - I was really hurting, So bad - I had to take 2 pain pills.  So today I will be on "all liquid diet" (hope you feel sorry for me), since if I do not eat solid food - I feel fine, no pain - just hungry.

Anyway - today is a sad day:
Isoprue
Chicken stock with unjury or other non-flavored protein powder.
I know I will be hungry, but... I had enough of the pain.

Monday I WILL call my doc, but I may not be able to see him until next week. I have a really hard schedule at work - but as long as I can fit him in when he has time - I may be able to.  I took so much time from work lately and I have so many projects that are urgent - that is why I may have really hard time to schedule any tests.  They probably will schedule EGD to check for ulcers... That will be one day of work, + 3 days feeling bad from sedation (I hate it, I hate it, etc - you get the point).

I do not need to lose any more weight and being on liquids - will deplete me from energy that I got back.  Do not like the idea....Please pray for me.

OK, enough "*****ing".

On a good side,
...if I do not eat - I feel great and get "hunger high" .
...I am setting up my new exercise machine (that I bought instead of joining a gym this year),
...I went to yoga yesterday and today I can feel my muscles, my butt, (the good pain after workout).
...My cat loves me and since I got back from my trip is showing the affection more than before (I feel like she really is happy that I am around and I am not only a "feeding machine" for her.).

Overall I have more positive than bad things to report.

I love reading your posts Nick.  You are so positive, "Go getter".
Wishing you best!
Thanks for listening.

DO NOT WAIT UNTIL MONDAY to call the doctor about the pain you are having.  This is SERIOUS and not anything to mess around with. Call the 24-hour emergency number for your surgeon or go to the ER today!  Yes, really.

Pain is your body's way of telling you something is wrong.  Pain after eating in WLS patients can be a very serious situation and we simply don't have the luxury of ignoring it.

If you have a twisted intestine or intestinal blockage this is a LIFE THREATENING issue that needs IMMEDIATE attention.  Yes, really.  You can die if not treated immediately.  PuggyDawn and Shari both had blockages and both lost additional intestines and both nearly lost their lives.  There are members here on OH who have died because of a blockage.  This is nothing to mess around with.

Here's an article that might help you understand why this is so serious.

PLEASE seek medical attention TODAY.

Because I care...

Yesterday was too much of a carb fest after about 5pm.  Ended up in a carb coma and fell asleep on the couch while watching a movie.  But it was a good birthday, so I'm not complaining.  I'm just 1 short year away from the big 4-0 ... kind struggling mentally with that a bit these past few days.

Definitely focusing on protein today.  And since I bought some new exercise goodies yesterday (resistance bands and hand weights) I'm going to try them out today.

Planning to make some mini meat loafs (ala Eggface).  Which will turn into my lunches for the coming week.

Breakfast -- protein hot chai tea  (I can't believe how much I love this!)
Lunch -- salad with grilled chicken
Snack -- apple/pear/raspberry crumble
Dinner -- mini-meat loaf and steamed edamame
Snack -- popcorn
Snack -- hot chai tea (again)

Except for the 2 bites of lemon bar (first ingredient listed was BUTTER!) from Whole Foods.... I did very well.

B: 1/2 cup Fage 0%, splenda, 10 blueberries
L: 1/2 cup homemade black bean soup
S: 1/4 cup roasted peas
D: 3/4 cup homemade stuffed bell pepper soup
DESSERT: 2 bites of a scrumptuous lemon bar.

Went to Kohl's to get a bra that fits... and I am no longer in the full-figured bra section!  Bought a 36C and it's on the tightest snaps. 34C is next! Woo hoo!
