Good thing I'm not too hung up over clothing sizes.

I just got home from some shopping. I told my husband that all I wanted for mothers day was a new outfit - still cheap since we are po.

Anyhow, you can get some fairly good deals at old navy. Check this out - got three knit soft funky striped turtle necks for .97 cents a piece! woohoo! Bought those babies to stick in my closet till the fall when I start to freeze.

So, I wrote earlier how I wear some ann taylor jeans in a size 8, Dickies capris in a 6, and walmart capris in a 4. So when I go to try on clothes I don't know what the heck size to try on. Found some cute jeans capris at old navy and decided to try an 8. Couldn't even bring the buttons together. I was running late so I grabbed a size 10 and left. Brought them home, took off my size 4 capris to try on the 10s. They fit. A teensey lose, but comfortable lose.

I mean, what the hell??? Can't a girl just be a 6 or an 8? Do I have to be a 4-10?

Doesn't freak me out. Sizes are weird. That's why I never said - 'I just want to be size "X".'

And to make the equation even more complicated... if you try on another style of capris at old navy, you might be a 6 or an 8 - LOL!

I can wear two different sizes at old navy depending on the style.  Of course, I'm still dreaming of getting into a pair of pants with a single digit -- I'll take any pair -- walmart, old navy, ann taylor -- I'm not picky :-P

Good for you for not getting hung up on what's on the tag though -- you look great!

I have the same problem. I hate it . I know I have to try everything on before I get it. I hate to try stuff on . You would think they could figure out sizes. Men do not have this problem.

It must be related to various body designs.  I wear a 2/4 at Old Navy, but a 6 in misses petites in other brands.  In junior's I can wear from a 3-7, depending on brand.

The bathing suit I bought this year--the top was a 12, and the bottoms a 6.

It is a bit frustrating.

I think Old Navy runs small anyway... I think alot of their clothes are modeled after girls who are pre-pubescent and don't have hips. Even getting skinny post-op doesn't mean we don't still have hips and a hot ass! ha ha

Yeah, Old Navy has three different cuts....I wear either a loose 6  or a perfect 4 depending on which cut I pick.....the lower the cut the higher the size.

Tara,

I can totally relate...I range from a 6-10...totally depends on brand.  And tops...well...holy moley that is a pain in the butt.  I literally tried on 20 different bras after being fitted and NONE worked...frustrating as all get out!

If you REALLY want to freak out, go into some of the high end clothing stores that still use the old dress makers sizing.  I was shoping for a dress last summer in Talbots and about died.

HPIM1332 by you.
I'm on the left in a size 12 or 14 ... don't remember which ... just remember it was double digit size.

Hmmm.. that reminds me. My great grandmother was a dressmaker in Hollywood. She was always really tiny. I never thought about what the sizing used to be. That would be interesting.

That drives me crazy! I'm prepping for surgery in a few months (hopefully) and I'm down about 27 pounds, I started a size 20. I tried on some 18's the other day and they fit! I was so happy, then I tried another pair of 18's on, didn't fit!!! Hate that!
