Breast reduction questions
I am only 4 months out. I am a tiny bit over losing half my weight. I would look so much smaller without my breasts! (If you look at my blog you can see me in a swim suit to see what I'm talking about.) It's not just how it looks for me though it's a very real problem for me with back and shoulder pain.
Anyway, I have always said when I lost ALL my weight I would do a consult and have a breast reduction. We have great insurance right now and it would be covered at 100% with no deductibles or co-pays.
This all changes in 2 months. We will have new insurance and it will be very crappy. In all reality the surgery will probably cost me 2K out of pocket.
Is it a bad idea to get the surgery done before the insurance changes? What will happen if I do will I end up with saggy breasts afterward all my weight loss?
I just was thinking it would be so great to get it done at no out of pocket cost to me now rather than costing me an arm and a leg later.
What are your opinions on this?
Unless they remove a LARGE volume of fat, your insurance will not likely cover breast reduction surgery. I was once a 48H-- am now a 34D, and cannot get insurance to cover because while I am still large, it's more skin than fat tissue at this point-- even with very bad documented and photographed rashes and intertrigo.
That having been said, you'd think that means "Do it now", right? But I can only imagine that if you had a good result now and lost over 50 more pounds you'd be left with something half-assed and unpleasant as well. I lost several cup sizes AFTER being where you are now.
My advice would be not to have ANY plastics of any sort until you're at least 18 months out.

Sure you could probably get them done now, but you would more than likely still end up with a saggy set later on, would you be happy with that? Make an appt with plastics see what their opinion is.
and like Jilly - I had boobs until the last 30 lbs or so
And unlike Shari - my insurance company didnt care what the excess was made of, just that it met a volume requirement of some sort (differs by insurance co) OR that you have/had rashes, backpain etc etc OR that you were severly asymmetrical.
They'd have covered any of that - but lucky me the day i went to the PS i had one hell of a raging summer ick rash :)
