Sigh. I give up.
So the Mirena is the answer to allllll your woman troubles...except...
it hurts like a ***** to put in
and then
you have 3 full on periods in a row - and no sign of the end
"oh its normal, it will taper off within 3 months"
sigh.
sigh.
sigh.
I'd like some sex plz.
I'd like a day without a cork in it please.
I'd like a day where I don't have to keep checking for "leaks" please.
I'd like to be as they promised me in 6th grade health class and be able to keep the date on my calendar and KNOW when it's coming.
Please?

Oh Lexi...... I feel for you.
How long have you had yours? I had mine put in in the end of August and finally about Thanksgiving all of that stopped. Now I love it. Then I wanted to yank it out myself. And, don't even want to think about the insertion. I almost passed out while driving home.
I really do love mine now. It does get better. Hang in there.

To tell you the truth, it took almost a year for me to 'calm down' when I first got mine. But I am so damn determined NOT to get preggo - I stayed with it. I was on different kinds of BC pills before and they had my moods going crazy and I was on a continuous period, so that had to go.
Everything is going smoothly now - I'm at about 2.5 years now.

Yea the insurtion an the first 3-4 months suck... but after that my periods have been predictable and usually only light spotting for 3 days. I am almost 3 years into mine and love it. It beats every other birth control I have tried. The couple months of never ending periods out way the mood swings, depressing and weight gain I had with everything else.
Hang in there it does get better.

Lexi,
Sorry. I didn't have any of that with my mirena. Have you talked to your doctor? I have to admit it was uncomfortable to put in.. but more right at the insertion and it was mainly cramps. I only spotted for a week and then haven't had a period since (9/2007). Just light spotting every few months. (I still pms like clockwork though). I did have an issue where it bothered me at first.. I could feel the string. They had to cut it shorter.
Again..I am not sure what you are experiencing is "the usual". Have you had childeren? The only other person I know that has had trouble had never had children. She had to have hers removed 6 months out.
Sorry,
Kelly
