Poll for all the people who cook
Oh, goodie! Here's one I can play! I was given a crockpot when I was about 19. Decided to invite in-laws over for the first time, and gave the crockpot the job. Recipe said put all ingredients in and turn it on, don't take off lid. So that's what I did.
It should have said, put everything for spaghetti into the crockpot EXCEPT THE NOODLES. Can you say spaghetti mush? It was awful! I was mortified. We all starved.

Ahh...the memories! When I was about 20, I was sharing an apartment with a friend. At Thanksgiving, her Mom wanted me to bring a turkey for the meal, so I bought one, cooked it and went to take it over. She was horrified when she realized that not only did I not stuff it, but I never took anything out of it...cooked everything, bag and all. Yeah, no turkey that Thanksgiving...she refused to serve it! :( Who knew??? lol
Ugh, the first time I made fried chicken, I epic failed! It was soo beautiful, brown, and crispy on the outside, and very rare on the inside. Stuck it in the oven too long and it just came out dry and nasty :(
I also made some horrible enchiladas once, I'm not sure what happened and I can usually make some damn good enchiladas!

Well, I am the granddaughter of a farmers wife, so I was expected to cook for the family at a young age. The worst thing I think was the angel food cake. I was about 10 and knew after a cake was done you remove it from the pan to frost and serve. Gram had company coming and it was my job to take the cake out and prepare the glaze. After about 15 minutes of trying to remove the hot cake from the pan I had a 1 inch ring and a very upset Gram. LOL needless to say I learned real quick you invert an angel cake and let it cool before you remove it from the pan.
This is such a fun post. I am generally a good coo****il it comes to fish. Real fishthat is, not Gordons or whoever. The first time I cooked cod with my dad we deep fried it. It was thawed but came out raw. Since then I have a hard time cooking fi**** never comes out right, it's either raw or over cooked.
