HAPPY FIRST DAY BACK TO SCHOOL SHARI!!!

Today I am hanging out with my mom. I am kind of scared for her. She is having an issue with one of her legs. It has swollen horrendously. Doctors don't know why. They suspect a fracture but the X-rays and MRI's don't show anything. I fear it's her diabetes and neuropathy. She doesn't eat right. I've begged. I've pleaded. I've threatened. She won't do it. And being that she's a grown ass woman I can't make her. Sigh... That's a whole other post right there.

So we are hanging out today. I am not looking forward to it frankly because all she ever wants to do is sit and watch tv all day. I can't sit still and watch tv all day. I am simply not capable of it anymore. She doesn't seem to understand that it's not just psychological but also physiological. My body gets antsy. It wants to move. It's got calories to burn. But today I will do this. For her. I may go insane.

Eats:

B: A really good protein shake (I'm about to post about it--don't know what to call it exactly but it had 42g of protein)

L: I am packing some salmon cakes to go to my mom's house. She has a documented history of not having RNY friendly (or diabetes friendly for that matter) food at her house.

S: My last egg rosette (sniff, sniff) and a string cheese

S: (post workout) Chocolite bar

D: whatever the old ladies at church feed me

LNS: strawberry cheesecake protein pudding pop

Nik, hope all works out well with your Mom.  If the weather is nice in Baltimore today, drag her butt outside to soak in some sun.  Fresh air does the body and soul good.  Plus it gets her outta the house and away from the tv.

Pre Bfast_ protein coffee

B- whole grain Bagelful, yogurt with TVP

MS- cottage cheese with sliced tomato and oregano

L - green salad with chicken breast chunks and LF colby cheese

AS- spaggetti squash with ICBNB and sliced baby bella mushrooms

D- baked chicken and yellow squash

LS- may not have this, but it works with my numbers if I want it - snack bag of popcorn

Yeah...she won't do outside. She claims she's agoraphobic. I can't get her to take a walk or do anything outside. She has a beautiful yard that she never uses. 1/3 of an acre just sitting there with trees and dirt ripe for planting stuff. She has two dogs that could benefit from a walk. But nothing. She will. not. DO IT!!! Sigh...

Hoping for a better day today. I was sooo tired yesterday.  But my pizza that I made last night was awesome :)

1) 2 arnold thins w/ cream chees and sf strawberry preserves (w/ fiber, Polaner makes this I think it tastes awesome!) Spread out over 2 hours.
2) coffee and cream
3) IDK what's for lunch I'm at the mercy of my emergency drawer or the cafeteria. Maybe my chicken salad kit.
4) snack is the emergency drawer again, so probably protein tea or click.
5) Maybe another pizza :) it was yummo. Arnold thin, spaghetti sauce, lowfat cheese, bacon pieces, bake.

If I need more, I doubt it, but I'll throw in a bar or a smoothie.

On another note, I had a bad reaction to a protein shake I made last night, I don't know why. It was made out of my usual stuff, the only thing different was the PB2. I got really shaky and had to lay down. Does PB2 do this to anybody else?

I'm really sorry to hear about your mom, Nik - hoping all goes well for her.  I know this is most likely not the same thing, but I had a small incident like that a feew weeks ago - I thought I had a blkood clot.  I went to the emergency room and they did an unltrasound - nothing...My GP figured I just "ripped up" a few blood vessels here and there and I just needed time to heal.  I hope it is something that minor for your mom.

"She doesn't eat right. I've begged. I've pleaded. I've threatened. She won't do it. And being that she's a grown ass woman I can't make her. Sigh... That's a whole other post right there."  It's hard, and frustrating, now that we know the right way to do this, and the benefits we've experienced, to convince those we care about to LISTEN and look.  My husband always comes back that he's told me this for years and I didn't listen, so  (the whole "two wrongs don't make a right" just bounces off.)  It's sad and frightening.  But keep trying....

As for today - finally got back to the gym this week, and today is my favorite class - weights! It's the last "low key" week of the summer here at work, and the last half-day Friday...ah well, all good things as they say...

So for today, work, weights class, appt with therapist, then chillin/sleep (having issues with that lately)

PreB: Vanilla chai latte protein shake
B: 1% cottage cheese with baby prunes, Grapenuts
L: tuna w/ peach/mango salsa and sunflower seeds (I know, odd, but I've been hooked on this for a while), large NJ tomato (you people not in the area have NO IDEA how luscious these are)
S: Apple, SF chocolate pudding
D: Not sure yet - I have no initiative to cook....maybe an egg white omlet (again - had it last night, but I do like them)
S: Frozen non-fat yogurt - found a brand that tastes like yogurt - a bit "sour" you know? Or a Greek yogurt with unsweetened coconut....

Good luck with your mom! I know the feeling. My mom has diabetes, takes insulin pills and is supposed to check sugar levels several timeas a day. Still her idea of breakfast is half an entemans cake.  AAAHHHH Would your mom even consent to sit outside?  I hope you don't go batty from all of the tv and I give you credit for doing it!

Had a BLAST at the waterslides yesterday. Back to basics today becasue eating was so carby.
preb-protien hot chocolate
b-greek yogurt with sf vanilla flavoring and frozen cherries
s- probably none my lazy but is still in pjs and haven't eaten bfast yet
l-tomato, cucumber salad a little moz cheese
some grilled chicken

not sure about the rest of the day
getting  girls up and out...last day before older daughter goes back to school
going to the park to get some air

My my, aren't Mothers difficult!  And they say its daughters!

B: DD wake up wrap
    coffee
S: string cheese
L: spinach/ham crustless quiche (I ate this already, so it was more like B2)
S: HB egg and 1/2 banana
D: almond butter on 1/2 low carb wrap w/SF jam
S: protein shake

I seem to be most hunry in the am, as the day goes on not so much.  Oh well, I am going to eat when I'm hungry, not just because its "time to eat."  We'll see how that goes, in the past it wouldn't have worked, but now that my meals are planned for the day I know how much I can eat before I'm done.
