Something to consider - Learned Eating

I read this in WL Lifestyles magazine and it made perfect sense to me. I've been trying some of his strategies and have had some success. Particularly in the arena of my peanut butter intake. Long story short, I taught myself to want peanut butter in place of less worthy choices but now the peanut butter intake is getting out of control too. That's what happens when you replace one addiction with another. So I decided to stop "band-aid'ing" and start trying to attack the root of my problems.

Thought I'd share in case it was helpful to others.

I also recommend the book "Mindless Eating." I forget the author's name but that book was illuminating.

Nik...you know I'm in the same place as you. I often refer to another excellent book
"The Beck Diet Solution" by Judith Beck.  Most of what I've learned from it is common sense but it helps me just to see it in writing.

Be happy.

I've been reading several of these self help type books....The Emotional First+ Aid Kit by Cynthia L. Alexander, PsyD; Life After Gastric Bypass by Katrina Segrave, RD, LDN, CSCS, and Jerry Wayne; The Beck Diet Solution by Judith S. Beck, Ph.D. and this article .....and one thing about them all that drives me nuts is they spend so much time telling you what they are going to tell/teach you! By the time they get to the 'meat' of the book I'm losing interest! Why can't they get right to it?

They also repeat the same thing over and over, just rephrasing it every time. Now this just may be a technique to instill those thoughts in your brain but it makes me feel like they think the readers are idiots.

Maybe it's just me but I'm having a very hard time getting through these self help books.

I think that is the very same reason why I have trouble with those books too! Thanks for stating in words that make sense.
