My surgery experience

I have to ask: What's the drain tube? I haven't heard of that.
Many surgeons opt to use a drain tube to help drain away post surgery fluids and blood from the abdomen. It's a tube that stays inside your abdomen and runs out of it through a hole that has been left open in the stitch. It has a grenade shaped bulb on the end of it that is squeezed and drains fluid out of the body. While it's gross and has to be emptied, I think that it has prevented my body from holding on to a lot of fluid. I've already lost 3 pounds and many gain the first week due to fluid weight. I'm also able to get in my fluids pretty readily, so that could also be a factor.
