Dr's Note to bring fluids on a plane?

I also travel on business and have had security refuse to allow me to carry on prepackaged protein drinks and water even witrh a doctor's note.  They wouldn't even look at the note.  The policy is the policy...

MANY airports, though, have bottles of water for less than $5 once you get past security (and you can get bottled water on the plane) -- check out the newstand-type shops -- so unless you are stuck in the airport for several hours, you can probably get by withou****er if you drink some right before you go through security (which is what I do... or suck it up and pay the $3.50 for water... even if you buy a bottle on each end of the trip, that's only $7-8 dollars out of the total per diem for the trip...).

I would check out the requirements for each airline you use, if they're different...and then carry with you a copy of their policy, in case they allow you to do it.

I've heard so many stories, where one airport will allow you something, and another won't.

I flew Delta and called about the protein drinks before my flight. They told me I would need a doctor's note to be allowed to carry them on the plane.

Thanks Everyone!  Sounds as if TSA applies the rules rather inconsistently depending upon airport and whomever you happen to get that day.  I guess I have a 50/50 shot even with the doctor's note.

ElbysMom - I can't believe they took away your nursery water!  I see folks all the time with all kinds of baby-related liquids - thought having the baby with you was carte blanche!  I have looked over at familys with babies and they are carrying stuff like 2qt size grape juice!
