How do you feel about the shows geared toward overweight people?

I have been noticing alot more shows now geared toward heavy people. Oxygen has a couple shows on and they also had More to Love on fox(i think). I think having overweight people on tv is important but these shows are just using our weight as a ploy. What do you think?

Even when I was obese (ok, technically I still am, but I'm thinner now)... I always had a problem with people who identified themselves AS their weight.  Being online and in chatrooms years ago I'd get so angry with the whole BBW crowd.  It was almost like those women had no self identity - they were their weight and that was all.  For me it was more important to be "Pam" - and show my personality, knowledge, etc.  My weight did not define me any more than my shoe size defined who I was or what my personality consisted of.

So these shows kind of rub me the wrong way.  They are allowing themselves to be defined by their size alone when really, I'm sure they have much more to offer the world beside the number on the scale. So I don'****ch the shows.  LOL!  I just pretend they don't exist.  :-)

My Recipe Index is packed full of yumminess!

I like the reality health shows... especailly weight loss ones. People reveal their personal stuggles and such.. BUT I dont even watch all the other muck. I think its great that there's over weight people out there being successful. I love that the Disney channel has kids that arent tooth picks on the shows my kids watch. But beyond that... I am not intrested.

Dont like them and won****ch them.  I dont like the desperation and total insecurity out of these women.  Some of us were fat and not insecure whatsoever.  More to Love...they are fighting over a guy who is not all that, at all.  So settling, basically.  I wasnt going to compromise what I was looking for in a spouse even though I was obese...physically, emotionally, financially, etc.

I think that The Biggest Loser is very inspirational to some people, albeit the show itself I think is a pipe dream.. Sure any over weight person can go on that show and lose an ass ton of weight in a controlled enviorment with prepared meals and working everyday for 398234 hours a day. What happens when the real world returns.. Do they retain what they learned or is it gone....Who knows..

Also I think the show on Oxygen Dance Your Ass Off is interesting and a cool spin on losing weight. Most of those people aren't Biggest Loser heavy though.

More To Love is just pure fail....It would fail even if it wasn't overweight people, it's just a fail concept.

I really like Big Medicine, it's a show on Discovery Health that is all about @ doctor's (father and son) who do WLS.

I watched it alot before my surgery, but I can't seem to find in on much anymore...

They are all expoitation of obese people for the profit of a few. Those who produce such shows are using the obese to feed their own greed!

I disagree I think Biggest Loser does have good intentions, as well as Dance Your Ass Off.
