Have you tryed the UNJURY !!!
Hey all you RNY's if your having a hard time drinking the whey proteins well you've got to try this brand of non whey protein drinks the choc taste like Nestles Quick with ice cold milk...I had the vanilla this morning it tasted like vanilla frosting..sooo good..I now look forward to drinking my drinks..give it a try..I am 20 months out and just couldn't stomach the wheys anymore...Best wishes Despinasdream..

Yup, Unjury is whey isolate - and it does taste good.
So the moral of the story is, no all whey proteins are the same! Try samples, try flavors, try different brands, and be aware that your tastes will change at any moment and you may need to switch yet again! (Isn't this a real roller coaster we're on, no matter how far out???)

I use the unflavored Unjury and love it. I mix it in my coffee in the morning and in other drinks during the day. Tried the strawberry but wasn't a fan. Haven't tried the other flavors, but the unflavored has been working well for me. I am not a big drinker of flavored drinks...mainly water and coffee.
Whey isolate is the most easily absorbed form of protein we can use for supplementing after surgery. Whey concentrate would be next, and collagen is pretty much useless to us.
Unjury is one of the top brands of whey isolate, and other good ones would be Bariatric Eating's Inspire, Syntrax Nectar, About Time, and Isopure. Everyone else will probably chime in with their favorites as well. Some mix with milk, some with water, and some with either. Some blend, some mix with a spoon, some with a shaker cup. There are literally thousands of types/ways to do this. Follow Cleopatra_Nik's links to her blog, where she has incredible recipes for shakes, or check out eggface's blog as well.
Be aware that almost everyone experiences changes in their tastes after surgery. For this reason, I was advised to stock up on samples of different brands/flavors so that I could see what I actually liked before investing bucks in big tubs. Many manufacturers will sell you single serving packets for between $1-$2 so you can see how you like them. Vitalady (vitalady.com) also packages samples of many other brands as well. I found some brands that others swear by that I couldn't tolerate, and some that they hated that I loved. It's hugely individual.
One thing that you'll hear people talking about is "unflavored" protein. This doesn't mean that there's no taste - only that the manufacturer hasn't added a flavor. So it should really be mixed with something that will override the protein taste.
I hope that gives you some ideas!

As far as pre-op, check with your surgeon. I know what mine had me on - but yours (based on your physiology) may have an entirely different program.
Some doctors require liquid, some mainly liquid with some lean protein, some liquid with raw veggies... and the length of time varies as well. So call your surgeon's office, and they'll tell you what to do.
