Tailbone pain since weightloss?
I've noticed in the past month or two I have so much pain in my tailbone area sometimes that I need to move around a lot. Just to mix things up, sometimes it hurts so much to move that I'm afraid to.
Is this a normal thing? I haven't injured myself that I'm aware of, and it never happened until the last couple of months, but I'm not exactly bony or anything.

Your tailbone has lived a sheltered life.... all cushioned and protected. Normal thin folks' tailbones are used to doing more hard work, and are all 'toughened up" to their jobs, but ours aren't. So as you lose padding, your tailbone gets annoyed. Even sometimes inflamed. The first plan of attack (normally) for such things would be to take an NSAID... which will take down the inflammation, and help with that while your tailbone toughens up. Unfortunately for us, we can't take NSAIDS. For most folks on here, the tailbone pain IS transitory..... they get over it as it toughens up.
This isn't true for everyone though!
For myself, I lost 57 pounds preop. After that first 50, my tail started to bug me. I'd broken it 9 years previously and it was deja vu. Then as the weight came off... I had more and more and more pain. I was almost a year out, and down over 100 pounds since surgery, and I couldn't take it any longer. At that point it hurt whenever I sat (using ****yx pillows)... and it hurt REALLY bad when I would get up from a sitting position, and then fade to "okay" a few minutes after rising.
I saw an orthopedic doctor, *****ferred me to a pain specialist a year ago in March. His plan was to try a cortisone injection to my tailbone.... and a second and a third one if necessary, to try to take care of the pain. He did not believe in going beyond a third shot, and would, if necessary, go on to a type of nerve block if the third shot wasn't efficacious.
My first shot to my "Dairy-Aire" lessened the pain by about 30%, but within a month it had inched up again to a steady 85% of maximum pain level. So doc scheduled me for another shot, and this time, he said, he "got all up in there, with multiple shots".... I have to say the pain from that second shot itself was about four times the pain of the first shot.... but after the pain from the shot subsided, my tailbone issues went from 85% max pain, down to about 15% max pain, and I could totally tolerate some discomfort in sitting.... and I was happy as a clam.
Almost a year passed, and the pain started inching up again.... 45%.... 60%..... 80%....which is about where it has been holding steady. I've been waiting since MAY for another cortisone shot... but my pain doc was super overbooked. I get the shot on Tuesday. I plan to ask for Demerol to combat the pain.
If this shot doesn't work, I'm not exactly sure whether he'll try more shots (they routinely put in for insurance approval for three shots, but my third shot isn't coming in a timely manner, so they had to put in again for new insurancce approval).... or if he'll go for a more permanent solution if this doesn't take care of the problem.
So there ya go.... a LONG answer to a short question.

V'N MY RNY. WORKING FOR ME BECAUSE I WORK FOR IT.
I have a donut pillow for my recliner at home, and a ****yx pillow for my work, the car, and an extra one for long drives.
I can remember distinctly a couple of 16-hour car trips that I never would have gotten through without some narcotics.

Yup, pain in the arse. I'm hoping it will eventually go away, but it's been a few months now.
