What happens if you don't take your vitamins?

I'm with you on the schedule thing. I suck at taking my pills on a schedule. So, here's what I do: (it's probably not optimal, but at least I get my vites in)....
Just before bed, I take my multivitamin, calcium, 5-HTP, sleepy-time pill, and allergy medication. (I NEVER miss these meds).
When I wake up, I take my multi-vitamin, calcium, anti-depressant, and B-12.
In the middle of the day, I take my iron and my anti-depressant (usually when I get home from work). (These two hammer my stomach, so I try to take it with a small snack).
You want to try to group it with some event that is important. Getting up... going to bed... getting home or fixing dinner.
I find that this works best for me.

You will be 2 months out next week and should be able to swallow pills by now. I wasn't allowed to swallow pills for the first 5 weeks and then had no problems even with horse pills. I now use centrum silver chewables and BA Cherry Lozenges (calcium citrate) and raspberry chewies(calcium citrate) because I love the taste of them = feel like I am eating candy 3 times per day.
As far as long term side effects of not taking vitamins -
calcium and vitamin D - osteoporosis - broken bones and losing teeth
B12 and B1 - nerve damage and if bad enough can become permanent. I have heard of people getting it so bad they actually became bedridden because they couldnt' walk anymore.
iron - anemic - loss of hair, difficulty breathing, severe fatigue
multi - can cause a large number of deficiencies
vitamin A - blindness
