I have still not gotten use to not hsaving one- when I wear clothes that fit alil tight at the area where my belly botton was- it hurts a lil and I was hoping one person on here was like me and could help me understand - does it feel normal after a while and do you get used to not having a belly button??

Why do you have no belly button now?  I did not even have any incisions near my belly button.

I don't think this is common at all.  I have personally never seen any type of surgical patient lose their belly button.  I have heard of tummy tuck patients losing it and having a reconstructed fake one. I imagine it might not feel good though since the belly button can be pretty sensitive.  Sorry.

started out as laproscopy and then Doc needed to do open- had hernia Dr thought  after removing hernia could do a mini tummyt tuck so wah lah... no belly button.  Actually it looks pretty good except for the scar that is from under breast down to my c section scar... then dont forget all the left over holes from lap- there were 5 of them and then 4 drain holes- TRUTHFULLY it has all healed well and the weirdest part is THE no belly button.

I understand the gastric bypass and the hernia surgery but why do a  mini tummy tuck before you lost any weight?  Plus he isnt' a plastic surgeon, he isnt' trained to do tummy tucks and that is probably why you no longer have a belly button.  I would be pretty pissed off.

WOW, that actually sounds like a doozy of a surgery.  Glad you healed so well.

Even after an open RNY (8 in*****ision), hernia repair (6x6 inch piece of mesh), a panni removal, AND a TT, I still have my belly button.  It's about an inch and a half lower that it used to be (and a bit "hooded", but it was always in "innie") but it's still there.

LOL.  I'm fine... recovering from the OH conference and dreading having to go back to work in the morning!

(I'm sure you"ll get used to not having a belly button... I ave several friends who lost theirs after TTs and they don't misss them  now.)

it truly was- 7 hours on the table then 3 days ICU and a total of 7 procedures-- and gastric wasnt suppose to be one of them- I was suppose to have vertical sleeve but stomach kept folding in the middle after being above my diapragm for many years so all in all one less belly button I realize was a small price to pay- I WAS JUST HOPING ONE other person on here could tell me about living without a belly button- so many have had tummy tucks and such... but thanks for all the responces!
