I asked that question too and the patient advocate at my doctor's office said its fine for the first  few weeks after surgery because the little bit of sugar will keep you from going into ketosis.  As you're able to add more food and protein you can switch to one that has less sugar.  I've moved onto low calorie Gatorade.  It   has 20 calories and 5 grams per serving.  It tastes a lot like the Powerade to me.  - I had my surgery on the 22nd ;>)

Powerade makes a Powerade Zero, commonly used by myself and post ops in my support groups. No sugar. DAVE

Don't we WANT our bodies to go into ketosis? I'm all confused now! I LOVE powerade zero--I intend to start drinking it again tomorrow since I'm finally comfortable going up and down the stairs myself! (Hubby didn't stock the fridge upstairs with it)

Powerade Zero is one of those drinks I just started this week and I take the 32 oz bottle to the gym with me when I am working out it feels great and no sugar no calories.

My other happy drinks post surgery include Vitamin Water zero, Sobe life water 0  all are not overly sweet like many of the artificially sweetened things I had bought pre-surgery to drink.  Flavored water really does work well for me yum, yum and it does not hurt my tummy even better.
