I have one that my surgeons office gave me on my first follow up appointment.  But I generally order off the regular menu and take home the left overs.  If I don't eat them,  hubby will!

I have asked to order off the children's menu, but if there is something on the regular menu that I can order, I also do that.  I have never shown my card to anyone!  I think most restaurants are happy to accommodate you so that you are a happy customer!

Mine came with my discharge packet at the hospital! It is good to carry that for medical reasons, too. Mine has a med alert on one side. Bracelets are available too of course!

I got one at my first post op visit at 2 weeks. I have not used it though. I went out to eat the second week after surgery. I wanted the broth from the french onion soup at Mimi's cafe. I brought my little strainer and prep cups from Pampered Chef that have measurements on the side and ate only what I could. Hubby has also had the surgery (although he has obviously abused his tool as he can eat a full meal without a problem - unless he doesn't chew something well). But we always have left overs - better that way... since I haven't felt like cooking all that much since surgery. Last week went to Red Robin got a chicken sandwich (no bun and all the sauce on the side... that one breast lasted 5 meals! And boy was it good. Had a balsamic spread with it.... mmmm.

I agree most kids menus only have junk on them. Our kids usually just share with us or order soup and salad if we are at Mimi's.

Mine also came in my surgical packet from the surgeon's office.  However, I have never used it.  Like others have said, I eat what I can and take the rest home to have for two additional meals.  I've never seen a kids' menu with anything healthy on it that I would even consider ordering post op.

You can find them online to print out.  Or just make one up yourself.  It's pretty much a made up discount anyway.  It's just someone asking for a special discount.

I got one from my NUT at my last visit. Your friend might want to check to see if their NUT has them.

I don't have one.  I don't use one.  I may have at one point, but I certainly do not now.

In a few cases, I'll ask about special requests.  At Ruby Tuesday, I'll order a filet of salmon without the sides and pay about $5 less.  I didn't have to show a card, explain my medical history, speak to a manager, NOTHING.  Perfect portion, too.  In the places that won't?  Fine.  I'll order what I want, take the leftovers home or, hey novel concept?  Waste the food.

*I* chose to have my stomach stapled.  It's not the chain's fault, and it certainly is not a disability that I needed to have my gut shortened.  But it's what I signed up for for the long-term (just like vitamins, hydration, frequent blood draws) and if paying full-price for a meal and wasting 3/4 of it is part of it to have a social experience is part of it?  Then so be it.
