Hello,

I am 5 weeks post-op. My Nutri. said not to eat anything with seeds such as strawberries or kiwi! Does anyone know why we are not allowed to eat those tiny seeds? I'm just curious about it!

I wondered the same thing, I thought maybe because we are still healing.

i don't know........I know I started eating strawberries at about 5-6 weeks post op and had no problems and was amazed how well they settled on my new tummy. Yummy! I can't wait for strawberry season to come.

I had kiwi today without a problem! I hope this won't cause problems for myself later on.

Thanks for your input!

Small seeds can get caught and stuck in your healing suture lines within your pouch.

Yeap, The little seeds can get stuck and then can cause an infection. No poppy seeds or anything that can get stuck in a crease or crevice.
Same thing happens to those with Diverticulosis. I know because I have it. It is not fun. So better to avoid them and not have the pain.
But it is always a personal choice.

Yes, the seeds can get stuck in the suture lines and cause ulcers.  Some people have to have surgery to have the seeds removed.  Be very careful!  I can't wait to start eating strawberries.  Only a few more weeks to go!

Thank you so much for your response! I will not have anymore kiwi. So in about six month we'll be ok to eat seeds?

Cause the seeds will get stuck and you will start having a plant grow in your pouch.  Just like with Watermelon Seeds :D
