I see my psychiatrist tuesday and that is at the top of my list.  Ambien worked great for me before surgery and it worked great after surgery.  Until a couple weeks ago when it just totally quit working.  Took it tonight and my vision started getting blurry like it always used to and I thought oh goody i'm gonna sleep tonight.

But no.  An hour later, still awake, I got up out of bed.  Everything is still all blurry, so hey, forgive me if this post if full of typos.  I can hardlly read what I'm typing.

But I just wanted to complain.

I know you aren't asking for suggestions, but have you tried Ativan? Works really well with me. I'm sure your Dr. will have his/her own recommendation. Anyhow, I hope you get some sleep!

I used Ativan for a while, quite a few years ago.  That was recommended and prescribed by a different doc.  But I will ask Tues if this doc thinks it might help.  I also plan to ask about Lunesta.

The thing about Lunesta I hate is my breath and the taste in my mouth in the morning. I take 1/2 of an Ativan when I need to my Doc said we may try Restilin (sp ?). I had a lot of problems when I started peri-menopause at 46. I don't know how old you are but that is when my problems started. Good luck, I hate it when I can't sleep.

I used to take 3 Benadryl for sleep. But for some reason, the Dr. thought the Ativan would be a better option for me. I don't care what I take, as long as I can sleep. But it does help me shut my brain off which is what I really need.

I don't care what I take either as long as it works.  In addition to shutting off my brain, I need something that relaxes my body.  Hard to sleep when your muscles are all tensed up.

Klonapin "shuts off the brain" and was a life saver for me..absolutely no side effects either ! Now I just take an ativan here n there.

I feel your pain, Kelly.... I had insomnia before surgery but I swear, after surgery its gotten so much worse. There are nights where I don't even go to sleep.... So frustrating. I've tried many things, tho not Ambien since surgery. I hate my insomnia. I hate it!

My sleep actually got a lot better after surgery.  It's just lately become a problem again and I think it's stress.  I also have nights I do not sleep at all.  I think last Monday I was up all night.  Lately I've been getting five hours maybe most nights.

Hi,
Sorry to hear you're not getting any rest!
I'm currently taking Desyrel 100 mg! 15 minutes after taking it I'm knocked out and get the best sleep ever.

Good Luck,
Shee
