Yes, I agree completey... once people are farther out, that is.   The OP is fresh out of surgery, though, and needs to build up the healthy eating habits and food choices... and, IMO, Taco Bell beans with double digit fat grams is not a very healthy choice so early out.

yes, i didnt even see how fresh she was post op. it didnt even register considering she was talking about taco bell...which i dont think i hit for a year or more :-)

wow, taco bell so fast. the doctors and orders have REALLY changed over the years in what they allow post op now.  i have a friend that is 2 months out eating chicken wraps at kentucky fried chicken?????...wow, i am too post op for my own good, and learned "old school"...LOL

I'm not sure that the doctors orders HAVE changed.  I think perhaps SOME people are stretching the rules once real food comes into play... or the rules were not specific enough.   My surgeon was very liberal about the post-op food plan... we were allowed to start soft foods on day 3 or 4... but she was VERY specific about learning new eating behaviors and avoiding fats and sugars and high sodium junk food for as long as possible.  We were specifically told to avoid fast food... but were given some information on the things that WERE good choices IF fast food was our ONLY option.  I still would not eat a chicken wrap from KFC (Fried chicken in simple-carb  laden torilla? no thanks.) and, like you, did not eat any fast food (except Wendy's chili which is quite good nutritionally) fro close to a year.

I eat pretty much anythign in moderation these days, but what I don't understand is why people endure weeks and weeks of post-op liquids and purees only to then want to rush out and eat something with a double-digit fat content.

****ROGIRL: Would that SOME PEOPLE be me? Are you kidding me by bashing me on this post?? You have nerve woman! Take care of yourself before you decide to come on here and net bash with your words. I have read alot of your replies on different posts and clearly you are an angry woman for no apparent reason. ALSO Different Surgeons have different rules and ways of doing things. No one EVER mentioned that I WAS GONNA GO HOP SKIP & JUMP my ass to Taco Bell. Especially RIGHT NOW! I am barely 6 days out, and I dont have old fast food habits like certain people!!! Dont post something if you are going to be rude or disturbing. And its also funny how you say " u wonder why people endure weeks and weeks of post op liquids and purees only to want to rush out and eat something with a double-digit fat content." Well you really have no clue as to what I wrote in the posts before yours. Cause you wouldnt be writing this.
What other people do is THEIR business, when someone writes a Forum Post it is pretty much asking a simple questions or to vent. You took it further by trying to bash on here.

You have been blocked because I dislike your comments, they are in fact rude.

I'm not ****rogirl, but I would like to answer as if I was, because her post in general might have been one I would have made too. She, of course, can't answer your questions you posed to her, if you've blocked her.

I highly doubt she was bashing YOU in specific when she said "Some People".... I would have said the same thing. SOME people DO stretch the rules. I've seen it all the time. I might take note of specifics but usually don't. There's one "famous" individual who was less than a week out and eating a KFC bowl, and she went into histrionics and the whole RNY board blew up over that issue. The KFC bowl is legend, the person, not so much. (she blocked everyone anyway).

It's easy to take something personally when it isn't meant that way. I've interacted with Lora (****rogirl) for years now, and when she has something specific to tell someone, she tells it to them specifically. when she speaks in generics, she MEANS it. There are SOME PEOPLE who bend the rules. People is plural.

Feel free to block away, but I think that you are reading a LOT MORE into her response, and personalizing it when indeed, there was no personal intent involved. She did NOT bash you. She is one of the most supportive people on this forum.

I call it as I see/read it. I look for support and answers on these forums, and yes she did in fact take it further with it. Just cause she does not EAT it, does not mean others shouldnt either. She read my post obviously wrong, and made a few comments that were in fact disturbing. She may be a "good" person but the way she came off on this forum, was rude.
Now KFC that is a little extreme, I NEVER eat that crap. Never will. I am barely 7 days out, I will not try any fast food now or anything that I shouldnt be. I went to seminars, meetings, and support groups. I know what I got myself into, and the surgery was my choice, hell I did sign the forms. I know what was explained to me in all these meetings. I spoke with my NUT yesterday after posting this and geting all the feedback, and she CLEARLY said I will not be able to eat the whole 4 oz, but maybe 3-4 bites which she said is 1oz. She did not say it was not good for me, she said she dont see a problem with it at all.
If I thought for one second that it was going to hurt me in anyway, I would have never posted this forum post. I told my NUT that I will be driving to Arizona May 26th, and asked her if it was possible that I can eat that on the way since it is a 12 hour drive from where I am. She said I sure can.
I take everyones comments into consideration because I learn from it. But clearly your friend went out the window with hers. And that is why I blocked her. I have no intentions to block anyone on here. As this is a great support system for me. But if the shoe fits.....
well you know what to do with it.

Ana, I note that you are newly postop, and I sympathize. Please remember that your entire system is being flooded with hormones right now, and you are taking these responses entirely too personally.

Agreed that you have to ease back into some "normal" things like eating at restaraunts or an OCCASIONAL "smart" choice at fast food. But I am a newbie and feel I would be setting myself up for failure if I started out on fast food as soon as I was off liquids. We need to correct and control our bad habits before cracking the door to them again. It's what I feel I need to do and although the cravings are strong at that point we need to remember why we chose the surgery to begin with and that it is only a tool on the long road to our goals.
