I put this together yesterday but I don't think I posted it yet.  If I did, sorry for the repeat.

Here are the results of the poll about how satisfied we are with our doc’s aftercare program.  A couple questions I ended up leaving out of the results because, well, they ended up being complicated to quantify and I am lazy.

I was happy to see that most people are satisfied with the aftercare they receive.

Overall, would you rate your doc’s aftercare as excellent, good, fair or poor?

Excellent – 10 (56%)

Good – 4 (22%)

Fair – 2 (11%)

Poor – 2 (11%)

How often are you supposed to see your surgeon?

Varied, but usually several times in the first year, then annually after that.

Do you see the surgeon when you do post op visits, or do you see a nurse practitioner or someone else?

Surgeon – 12 (67%)

Someone else – 3 (17%)

Don’t know (I’m not sure how you would not know who you see, but someone said she didn’t) – 1 (6%)

Do you also see the dietician when you go to post op visits?

Yes, at least often – 9 (50%)

No, or very seldom – 8 (44%)

Is a dietician available to you whenever you need one?

Yes – 12 (67%)

No – 3 (17%)

Don’t know – 2 (11%)

Are you able to reach your surgeon by phone when you need to?  If you leave messages, do you get called back?

Yes – 13 (72%)

No – 3 (17%)

Two did not answer.

Did you get clear and detailed instructions about what to eat and how much to eat at every stage?

Yes – 11 (61%)

No – 5 (28%)

Two did not answer.

Do you feel your doctor take any problems you have seriously?  Like if you call and say you’re nauseous all the time does he just say yeah, that happens, or does he try to find out what’s causing it?

Yes – 12 (67%)

No – 4 (22%)

Sometimes yes, sometimes no – 1 (6%)

Haven’t had any problems – 1 (6%)

Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR.  If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor.  Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me.  If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her.    Check out my blog.
