Unexplainable pain everywhere....very long, sorry
I had my surgery 2 1/2 weeks ago, and except for the first 3 days, my WLS experience has been fairly uneventful. No stomach pain, pouch pain, not overly gassy, have been able to drink normally since I got out of the hospital, have had no nausea, but some constipation problems that I'm pretty sure I've got licked. I consider my self on the lucky side, except for my scale being stuck at the same weight. I did go down 3 lbs, back to my original weight loss after I got out my first round of constipation!! TMI, sorry, but I thought that was pretty hilarious!!
Now for the unexplainable crippling pain I'm experiencing. As most of you know, that know me, I have had uncontrollable chronic pain from my spinal osteoarthritis, and that being one of the health reasons I needed this surgery. I'm used to pain and have been on just about every pain med there is. When I went to Mexico I was really afraid that sleeping in the hotel bed and the hospital bed especially would be horribly painful, as it has at any U.S. hospital I have ever been admitted to. Nope. I was so comfortable at both places it was wonderful! It's like when I got to Puerto Vallarta my pain stopped. My back was the best its been in 3 years!!
I got home 8 days after my surgery and everything was seeming to go well still. A little pain but still better than when I left. For the past 5-6 days I have had terrible pain all over my body from my neck to my toes. It feels like when you do an intense exercise session for the first time and the muscles you worked are really sore. Except its everything, especially around joint areas. My feet are sore when I stand upand start walking, it hurts to bend my knees to stretch my neck in certain directions, I barely had the strength to use the pill crusher this morning, my elbows hurt to straighten my arms, shoulders hurt, I can even feel weakness in my fingers when I just bend them. I dont know what to do for it and I dont know what could be causing this.
Is this a symptom of a nutrient deficiency or vitamin issue? Does anybody have any idea what is happening to me? I am on a mega pain med and its not helping this. I have an appointment with my PCP tomorrow afternoon and an appointment with my pain management docs on Wednesday. I just wanted to get feedback from anybody on OH that has had this happen or has even heard of this. I feel like it has to be tied in with my surgery because of all the crazy pain issues I've had, I've never experienced anything like this. All the things that I listed that hurt are things that do not normally hurt, let alone all at the same time!! If any body has ANY idea about these symptoms etc please HELP. Sorry so long, but I really just wanted to give the whole story.

I drink from the time I get up in the morning until I go to bed unless I just ate, then I wait 30 mins. I drink decaf tea with splenda, water with crystal light, and a protein fruit mix drink first thing when I get up. I probably get at least 100 oz. I dont think thats it. Thanks for giving me an idea though
Is any of the pain "familiar"....as in, do you normally experience these pains, just not together or as intense? Could be your body is just reacting to hte surgery, and now that you are healing up inside, the body is saying "now that priority #1 is taken care of, we'd like to draw your attention to #2)
Having to be physically moved after the surgery is a very difficult thing, your joints get wrenched, and you can experience weird pains after surgery.
If you run a fever too, don't play around, go to the ER

I chased my dreams, and my dreams, they caught me!

i think i said in the post that i usually dont experienced pain in any of these places especially not together. I never have elbow pain, hand pain, very small amounts of knee pain, hardly ever neck pain unless I sleep wrong, but thats not the case. If it was from being moved I would thik it would show up before 2 weeks later. One thing I did not mention is that every day, instead of getting better, it stays the same, if not gets worse. I dont think I have a fever, but I am going to take my temp right now. I was feeling a little this was when I saw my PCP this past Wed, but I didnt say anything because, you know, I figured it would get better. This is what I would imagine something like Lyme disease would be like. The muscle and joint issues, but my dogs never have ticks and I know I havent had one on me. I'm usually pretty savvy about medical issues and medications and there side effects but I just dont get this. Thanks for your help!! It seems that I can pretty much count on you to help!!
No fever, but I have been creaping around the net and have found some things that it could possibly be. Rheumatoid arthritis, MS, Lyme, low pottassium and magnisium(sp), Lupus, electrolyte imbalances, and ,my personal favorite, that I have suspected for years, Fibromyalgia(sp). Any body have any other things to add to the list of things to talk to my PCP tomorrow? My bets are going down for rheumatoid arthritis or Fibromyalgia. Both of these can on-set quickly and unexpectantly. I dont care what kind of poking and proding and blood tests, and pee cups. I really have got to find out whats going on. I used to think that my back was about the worst that could happen. Not when my entire being hurts and is uncomfortable. Thanks again guys
Could be Fibromyalgia..... Ask doc for Neurontin (aka Gabapentin) which is a wonder drug for Fibromyalgia ... it makes me fall down but I react funny to a lot of meds. I have fibromyalgia, but long since learned to discount most pains.
When I had my GB out in 2001 I started to hurt in my arms and legs about two weeks postop, was hurting everywhere....bruises popping out in the shape of handprints even....weird delayed reaction. Still have one tendon in my right arm that gives me issues ever since.
I hope you figure it out.
