last question for the night lol - after surgery
I had surgery at one thirty. The first thing I remember is waking up in my own private room with my SIL and husband standing there watching me. No pain. Very drowsy, went right back to sleep. The first pain I remember is about 9 pm and telling my husband they "had to do something NOW about the pain" and getting the morphine going finally. And that pain basically just felt like everything between my chest and top of my thighs was jumping, burning, twinging, hurting. The morphine would put me immediately to sleep but when I woke up the pain would still be there, to a lesser degree. The next day was much better. They started me on liquid Lortab about 9 a.m. and the pain was very manageable by then.
I didn't really freak out, but I remember having some anxiety about "being alone". I remember coming to and asking the nurse where my girlfriend was... I just wanted to see her. I remember telling them that they need to call her and then I gave them her phone number..lol. Once I was in my room and she was with me, I remember my back hurting REAL BAD, being so thirsty and itchy and having to go pee. They got me up to use the restroom and that's when the nausea set in..BAD. They gave me some phenegren and morphine in my iv and the next few hours are a blur as I slept for most of that time. But, I agree, the worst part for me was being wheeled into the OR and getting myself from the hospital bed to the operating table.... I didn't like that feeling. I remember laying there panicking to myself and nearly crying when my anesthesiologist told me she "slipped a margarita in my IV." The next thing I remember is being in recovery and the nurse trying to wake me up and calling my name.
I woke up in severe pain. The anesthesiologist told me I wasn't able to have the same amount of pain medicine as others because my breathing would slow and become shallow. I hurt very badly and was all alone since my husband was deployed and my FIL was with the children. It was not a good experience. Once I was fully awake they drugged me with dilaudid and nausea meds and it was much better. They kwpt me well medicated after that.
