Sort of Nervous

Tomorrow is kind of a big day for me.  My whole family lives on the other side of the country so they have only seen pictures since surgery, well my mom was here for my surgery but hasn't really seen me since.  They have asked and heard what my daily life is like now and are as supportive as can be for living on opposite sides of the country.

Well tomorrow my mom is comming to visit for a week.  My mom has not seen me this weight since I was in high school, and she has never seen me as active as I am.  I don't do well with the emotions and stuff so needless to say I am nervous as hell to see her.

I know she is proud of the changes I have made but it really doesn't help the anxiety. Not to mention I have to miss my workout tomorrow to pick her up at the airport .

Your Mom will be proud of you and probably have many other feelings at the same time. Most important are your feelings--even writing that you feel anxious is a very good thing. The trick is that seeing parents brings up feelings from today, tomorrow and yesterday. Don't let all those feelings undermine your success--you have lost more than 100 lbs! Missing one workout won't bring the pounds back, nor will visiting family. You did this hard work and you can keep it up!

What exactly are you anxious about? Her being proud of you, or everyone showering you with praise?

You have done such a wonderful job. You are so supportive and helpful to everyone. You deserve to bask in the glow of your accomplishments. Say Thank you, because you have earned it. You really have. She will be proud of you as she should be.

Missing one workout wont kill you or derail your process...you get out there and pick up your mom! :)

As a mother to a son of my own this post really made me smile.  You are a sweet mama's boy and I LOVE that!!   If she is anything like me she will give you a great big squeeze, cry because she is happy to see you, stand back and look at you, squeeze you again and tell her baby boy how proud of him she is.  Let me know if it goes something like that because I have a feeling it will.
Congrats and enjoy the time with your Mom! :)

Paul, I'm sure your time will be wonderful!

This brought tears to my eyes.... my mum died on the day of my surgical consultation. She never saw what I could become. I like to believe she's watching me from "beyond" and cheers on my efforts.

You're going to do great my friend.  Focus on the positive.  You are doing wonderful and have made HUGE, MONUMENTAL strides to change your life.  Remember it takes others a while to adjust to the new you too.  Most of all breath, relax and enjoy the time.  Mom's can't help but to love and worry about their little boys (or girls) no matter how old they are!  Know that she loves you even if she starts the skinny talk etc. You're going to do great!!!!
