We all do dumb things when we're Post-Op. Tell us about it HERE!

Hey ya'll... Here's my stoopit stunt of the day.

Foodie me canned about 25 pints of homemade sweet hot pickles at Christmas. My husband just got a really tough promotion, and we're having a kick-a** party on April 28th. So I'm planning the menu, looking to include things I'll be able to have, etc, and I get this BRILLIANT idea in the middle of the night. Why not make DEVILED EGGS using the homemade sweet hots for the sweet pickle relish and onion?!  As I was making them, I took a couple of tastes of the filling, being REALLY careful to avoid the chunks of pickle and onion  - even still, it was spicy, as intended - and after a couple of minutes, I got a really BAD feeling. I thought I was going to DIE. I got heartburn, my stomach was KILLING me, and I had some weird pain in the CENTER of my abdomen. I took some Nexium, and drank some water, and laid down and slept for three hours. I feel MUCH better now, but holy crap. I thought this was the Big One.

WHAT WAS I THINKING?! Capital EVERY LETTER.

First of all, your deviled eggs sound yummy!

Im a new post op and I've had a couple episodes during my "night eating" spells where I got sick. I have felt that deathly feeling, but throwing up helped.

I have caught myself, out of habit, getting ready to lick my fingers or taste test something that I'm cooking--I know how easy it is.

Glad you're feeling better and hope your party goes well!

Congrats on the promotion!!

I had a "slight" mental lapse the other night.....I made a big pan of mac & cheese....and I live alone, hahahaha.         I guess I could have just spent the evening sucking the cheese off the mac but I delivered it next door instead.

I tried a bite of a dinner roll after 1 month out,(very bad idea) I immediately stayed dumping, it sucked, the sweating, dry heaving, chills etc...haven't touched bread since then

Unfortunately because of the schedule me and my husband have, we're often going out to eat with his coworkers. At three weeks out that's not THAT bad because I can usually eat soft fish or chili or something. The other day they all decided to go out for sushi. No problem, I thought, I can have a small piece of fish or some miso soup or something. Of course, first thing that comes past me that I grab is an ahi 'taco'. Ahi tuna with sliced cucumber and a crispy wonton wrapper as the taco shell. Oh, it was so good and I might have gotten away with it but I ate it too fast. I have a REALLY sensitive pouch and even soft foods will get stuck quickly if not properly chewed. The worst part was that the bathroom was up two flights of stairs in this place! I had to run up there three times to hjork up my lunch. :( I sometimes swear that this surgery is turning me bulemic!

It was time for my last snack of the night and my mother had bought me some stonybrook caramel greek yogurt. Now she has caught on pretty quickly that I cannot have anything with sugar. That was the first real thing in spanish that we learned in Mexico. Sin azucar. Something like that, you get the point. Well, I ate it and didnt look at the packaging and then I bothered to look, and it had 19 sugars for that 2oz yogurt. I very calmly freaked out, went to my room, laid down, and waited to dump my face off!! Thank goodness, I never did dump, but I did learn a very important lesson. ALWAYS check the labels!!!!!
I only strive to be, the kind of person my dogs think I am!

Took an 10mg Ambien.   Ended up thinking I was hungry. I ate a half of a peanut butter sandwich and then quickly afterward I took a couple bites of left over meatloaf. Went to bed. Woke up 45 minutes later feeling like I was going to puke. Went back to sleep. Woke up 20 minutes later and ran to the toilet and kept trying to throw up but that mechanism works differently now and I was just having the dry heaves.  It was uncomfortable to say the least but I'm happy to know that after 2 years I still cant handle much food without my pouch telling me who's boss.

A peanut butter sandwich?! Let's you and I plan to not ever have a sleepover.  Between the PB & meatloaf and spicy hot deviled eggs, we'll kill each other.

Yea, not one of my most brilliant moves. I'm sure on that night I wouldve had one of your hot deviled eggs on top of it!  I'd be a bad influence for a new post op like yourself

My husband ate a few eggs, and he about GASSED me out of the bedroom! So they already have the nasty gassy side effect, even on non-WLS people. You would have EXPLODED before I could have done anything to help you!  And no bad influences needed - I decided this morning in my infinite brilliance to take a DULCOLAX suppository. No applause, please. I threw up twice within a half hour. I did poop, though! So not ALL bad new, I guess...
