Thank you for posting this Kelly! This makes a lot of things make sense to me now. Time to be more careful about my protein intake.

Thanks for posting this.  I really struggle with getting my protein in.  Great reminder about how important it is.

Go get labs done.  Get a CMP,  which will show your total protein and albumin levels, and a prealbumin.

Other things could cause these symptoms.  What symptoms are you having, can I ask?

Great topic!

So is this level of protein need by the ASMBS forever?  If by chance i am below protein levels for a short time and then get back up to par does irreparable damage occur?

Probably needed forever, but no, if you fall short for just a while then get back up, I doubt you'd cause any permanent damage.  If you go long enough without enough protein to cause heart damage, that probably would be permanent, but you're gonna start breaking down other muscle first.  I don't know how long you could go before you'd damage your heart, but you're not gonna get heart damage in just a few weeks.

Thank you.  I need a swift protein-filled kick in the pants.  I have entirely too many of those symptoms listed.  I can't eat anymore than I am, so I think it's time to slip another protein drink in the mix on a regular basis.

Be prepared to try a number of brands and different ways of making them.  It can take a while but I think everyone can find something they actually like.  I like mine a lot now.  They are really yummy but I sure tried a lot of gross ones in the past.
