I had open RnY 2/28/2011 and I am tired. I walk about 1.5 every other day but I am  exhausted. I am eating and drinking and taking my multi vitamins. I have a doctor appointment on Monday and am going to ask for a B12 shot. Has anyone else been tired like this? I take a nap everyday and my energy is slowly increasing. Just kind of anzious wanting to know I am not a freak

Thank god I thought it was just me!  I had my surgery 03/01 and the exhaustion is ridiculous.  I don't know if it's harder because it's open or what (it seems like lap. people start to get their energy back by week 3 or 4.)  I had to go to my PCP because the surgeon said since my fluids and protien intake is good they didn't really have any ideas unless it's just 'normal' healing.  I can only do a half mile everyday.

You just had a major surgery.  It is normal.  Acknowledge it and keep doing what your doc says.  It does get better.

I had my RNY lap on 3/2 and I'm still exhausted! I'm walking and getting all of my fluids and protein in, but I still have to take a nap just about everyday. Everyone that I've talked to says it's perfectly natural to still be tired. Hope we all feel more energetic really soon!

It was more than two months before I began to feel like myself, and four months before I stopped taking a daily nap.

You are completely normal.  I was exhausted forthe first 3-4 months.  Things got much better after you body adjustes.  Congratulations on your work thus far.

Yes, you are normal.  I am almost 5 months out and I still have to take naps most days.  However, make sure that your multi vitamins have "iron" in them.  I found that mine was extremely low at my first blood work.  I thought my multi had iron, but it did not so I am now on an iron supplement x 2 a day and will retake blood work in 6 weeks.  I also do not get but about 4 hours of sleep at night, so that  in combination accounts for my eshaustion.  Not a freak!!

You might want to start checking your blood sugar also, ask your doctor. Hypoglycemia or reactive hypoglycemia is very common after WLS. It makes me very tired when my blood sugar is low!
